uhh, yeah, i'm having trouble. every time i throw the flip i fly across the trampoline. this presents some problems seeing as i have broken two springs already, and come close each time. I ddn't have this problem a few weeks ago when i first learned the trick, then i'd just throw, spot the landing and come down where i left. what wrong with me?

sounds like you're "throwing" it too much. Just jump straight up and then huck the flip.

Like David said earlier in this thread, jump straight up and then throw the flip. From what I have seen (including myself) this is a very common problem learning this flip and most people tend to do this. You may want to find someone with a tramp and harnass that will spot you until you get the feeling.

If your trying it with a handle tied to a tree or somthing learn how to do the backflip first. Jump straight up and look back and your feet will follow. If you still cant get it try to find a tumbling class at a gymnastics center. I was in Gymnastics for several years and it helps with body placement a lot

Go back to your back tuck. Work on taking off and landing on the same spot on the tramp. You can even put some tape on the tramp to mark it exactly. If your traveling backwards you can break it by taking smaller jumps and working on your tuck technique. I will sometimes bounce once only then flip. This helps perfect the technique without "throwing the flip." Once your tucks are hitting the spot go to layouts using the same technique of up first then flip.

Make sure you look back and tuck. Do this after you jump. If you look back you will flip, if you dont look back you will land on your toes or even your face. Looking back helps me stay in the same place, if i dont look back i will fly across the tramp.

Try learning just a simple backflip without the rope. Do it tucked...this usually helps you go straight up rather than back. After you got those down, learn a layed out backflip....once you got that the tantrum should be a breeze
