Guys, I'm finally getting ready to put some tower speakers on my boat and I need some advice. I would also like a little more bass if possible too.

Right now I have 2 6.5" speakers by the driver and passenger and 2 6x9's in the back of the boat under the seats.

I don't really have anywhere to fit an actual sub in my boat, but do they make a bazooka tube for a boat or something like that?

For the tower speakers, has anyone used PVC pipe to make the cans?? How does it work/sound? Will 2 speakers be enough up there or should I go with 4. I don't need the other side of the lake to hear, but I would like to hear it while riding.

What are my best options for how to spend this $400?

Thanks.

2 - 6.5" speakers will not be audible while riding.

4 - 6.5" speakers will not be audible while riding. Unless, they are very high-end ($200-$300/pair) with lots of power behind them.

If you're trying to hit the $400 mark, then grab a Bazooka tube (car audio will work fine) and build up your PVC tower speakers, I'd recommend going with 4.

I'll probably catch flack for recommending a Bazooka tube, but I'm saying that because it sounds like you're wanting to get a lot of bang for your buck. Granted, Bazooka isn't the highest quality, but it works.

Good luck, and post pictures of your tower speaker construction process.

Well, the bass isn't as big of a deal as hearing the speakers while riding I think. Would it be better to have 2 speakers that were $400/pair or 4 that were $200/pair? Would 6.5" JBL speakers be ok? That's what brand I have in there now.

Maybe I'll just wait until later to figure out how to get more bass in there. The 6x9's aren't too bad.

Thanks for the response Craig.
