Rxt or Duramax, I think most of you know that I have ordered a new MC X-45. Now I am trying to determine what I want to town it with. I really like the Duramax with a slight lift and 20s. But then you never see a RXT.

If you have a duramax what have you done to it?

what is the rxt?? I've got a duramax and freakin love it. 20's, exhaust, air intake, spinners, 5 t.v.'s, i love to look at other peoples lifted trucks, but after having a 4 inch lift on my last duramax i wont' lift my trucks again. ride was fairly rough. my profile has a pic of my truck.

I believe he is talking about the International RXT. I think you are talking about two different animals. I am not a Ford guy, but I think if you are going big, the F650 is the best looking big truck around, here is a link. http://californiatruckinconcepts.com/
You definitely can't go wrong with a lifted Duramax though and it is alot cheaper than an RXT. I think the bed on the RXT doesn't look right, kind of like an afterthought, and for that kind of money, I want it to look like it was made to be on there, like the F650

Get the RXT. I'd love to see International persuaded to stay in the passenger vehicle market this time, even if it is just as a niche player.

Got a new duramax, love it, tows like a dream. I 'm with Ryan on the lift, rides like a car quiet and smooth.

ok, i've seen a couple of the rxt's running around. buddy ordered them for his work trucks(he runs custom combine company) rxt wouldnt' be as versatile for running around if your getting as a daily driver. if your just using it to tow with, and have enough vehicles to drive I would go rxt. them vehicles are pimp. duramax aint' no slouch though. I recently read someone post on here that people are on crack if they think they can't feel a boat being towed behind their truck. the diesels literally feel like that, power is just awesome. keep us posted on what you do.

Can someone explain the real benefits of these International trucks to me?

Chevy: 5,700 pounds 365HP/660 lb/ft
Dodge: 6,900 pounds 350HP/650 lb/ft
Ford: 6,500 pounds 350HP/ 650 lb/ft
International: 10,500 pounds 300HP/ 530 lb/ft

Those weights are the best I could come up with in a 30 seconds search but the point is that the International is up 4,000 pounds on the lighter duty trucks and is rated to have less power.

Getting the International is overkill, IMO. Any of the Full Size Diesel Pickups can pull it no sweat.

Get a fully loaded Crew Cab 4X4 diesel, lift it a few inches, add some nice rims and 35" tires and upgraded shocks and you are good to go. I'd say you can do those mods for $$3-4k and have a very stylin truck. Add a billet grille or a custom bumper or something to trick it out.

The main difference is going be in the chasis and in long term durability. An RXT will easily outlast any standard pickup. Everything is bigger and is based on the commercial line.

The main thing I like to look at when making a big purchase is resale value. I mean what does it matter if I spend 40K and only get 20K back 2 years later, when I could spend 60K and get around 50K back. Go with the International, they are made tougher so they hold up better and they are holding their resale better than anything else. Those numbers came out of my a$$ so do the research yourself.

You can't drive that rxt everyday, maybe for towing and that is it. My boss used to have the Chevy Kodiak upfitted with tv's leather and everything which is basically the same concept. You can barely park it in a normal space.

Evilone- I'm pretty sure the medium duty trucks can tow a lot more than that.

I guess I wasn't clear, those weights were the vehicle weights not towing weights. My point was that the International WEIGHS 4,000 pounds more and has less power then lighter trucks. That would indicate to me that the lighter trucks will out accelerate and climb hills easier then the International.

Speaking of resale I doubt you'd find a buyer for the International as easily as you could for a [insert domestic diesel] which would really affect the resale of the International.

Rxt is a dog designed for commercial use. We run the same truck on our light duty delivery routes. It's slow, lousy mileage, and rough riding. In my opinion it's absolutely retarted as a personal use vehicle towing under 5k. Buy a nice GM, Ford, or Dodge 3/4 ton. Any one of these trucks are more than capable of pulling a wake boat around.

Get the dmax. You will not regret it for most of the reasons that people have noted here. I would think just for the general drivablity alone would sway me but you should go and drive the 2 and decide for yourself. I have a bully dog, exhaust, intake, boost and pyro gagues, and 285's on mine and it goes like crazy with my boat hooked on. I can pass anything on the highway and climb hills like the boat is barely there.

a buddy of mine just purchaced a f650 lifetd, to tow his x80. It uses the same tires as a cement truck, cat eng, air brakes, ext. Its a huge truck. Your not going to drive it everyday. and here in ca you need to stop at the weigh scales. Go with a normal truck.

I'm not overly familiar with the Mastercraft range so I assume the X-45 must be 45' long if you're considering an International RXT to pull it.

A totally impractical truck, that's for sure.

X-45 with trailer is about 6000 lbs, a normal diesel pickup will pull it with ease.

Get a dmax and throw some money at it.

or an 08 f350 they are a very nice truck and will pull the X-45 with ease.
