http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_Florida_Barge_Canal

i've crossed over it going to the ocala national forest a bunch and i think the same thing every single time. i'm not sure about the other section, but you can only get to the one off of SR 19 in Palatka by going through rodman lake, which is a flooded woods area full of stumps, logs, etc. When you get there you'll be greeted by fishermen and gators. If all those factors were non-existent, it would probably still be illegal for the fun of it.

I didn't wakeboard it... and I don't remember exactly what we did..... But I live in St.Pete/Tampa... we went south, then took a left and got on the okechobee* water way, then crossed lake okechobee**, then took someotehr waterway, and popped out on the east coast.

I WOULD NOT WAKEBOARD IT..... I think throughout hte whole trip, we saw like 300 alligators... we counted!!

For just a trip it was awesome... there are lots of hotels along the way. Again I wouldn't wakeboard it. One reason is there are a lot of LOCKS and damns, and another reason is the gators. O and a large portion is idle speed.

yeah, they started from either side. both would be sweet, but like you said, they're filled with gators. my suggestion would be to go somewhere warm like cali. i hear they have the delta

Chris, you took the Caloosahatchee river to Lake Okeechobee then out the St. Lucie canal to Stuart.
