Who's going to head to Fiesta Island this Sunday for the Wakesports tournament?
Old    lindsayl            06-24-2003, 12:30 AM Reply
I'll be there.
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       06-24-2003, 6:38 AM Reply
I'll go. But only if Dave enters too!

I'm going and entering.

Dana and I are there!
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-24-2003, 7:24 AM Reply
And also if anyone is entering, what division are you going in for?
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       06-24-2003, 7:38 AM Reply
Kristian, I have no idea what class to enter. My riding has been so crappy I should be in the beginner class! I guess I'll decide that day after talking to the organizers.

Me too, I'll go and enter. Have NO idea about what class to enter though.

Well I'm in for Expert. I'd do alot better in advance, but I'll give expert a shot.
Old     (mx118)      Join Date: Dec 2002       06-24-2003, 7:46 AM Reply
I will be there representing the beginner Class!!
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-24-2003, 7:47 AM Reply
Incase people don't know
Advance(2 inverts max)
Expert (4 inverts max)
and 360 are counted as an invert, since a 360 is harder than any backroll.
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       06-24-2003, 7:51 AM Reply
Sounds like I'll be joining you!

"and 360 are counted as an invert, since a 360 is harder than any backroll"

Kristian I think we'd get along just fine

Come on, Brian. You have more than 4 "inverts"! Don't make me list them out here.
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       06-24-2003, 8:14 AM Reply
Oops, I guess if you are counting spins you're right. What's the next one up?

Anyone know how much it costs?
Old    lindsayl            06-24-2003, 8:22 AM Reply
I think you've missed the pre-registration window, so it's $25 (was $15 if you paid 7 days in advance), plus $10 for USAWS membership, plus $5 for practice pulls.
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-24-2003, 8:23 AM Reply
$25 for registration, $10 for usaws membership
Old     (socalwakepunk)      Join Date: Dec 2002       06-24-2003, 8:25 AM Reply
I paid $30 to pre register for the event (7 days prior). I think it's $35 w/o practice ride / $40 w/ practice ride.

I'll be in advanced, although my riding has been anything but advanced lately.
Old     (mx118)      Join Date: Dec 2002       06-24-2003, 8:26 AM Reply
Does anyone know what time is practice starting?
Old    lindsayl            06-24-2003, 8:30 AM Reply
Check in/practice at 7 am, contest starts at 9
Old     (blabel)      Join Date: Jul 2001       06-24-2003, 8:56 AM Reply
Jason, I don't intend to! I forgot about Outlaw. Of course with the way I've been riding....... I might be going home with my tail between my legs.

I've only ridden the board once and I tried it finless. That didn't go to well so we'll see how it goes with the fins.

I am going to be there. I am going to compete in advanced. See you all there.

Okay I pretty much suck, lots of grabs w/180's and the occasional backroll. I would like to enter just because it sounds like fun. I am wondering should i enter beginner class or would that be considered sandbagging.

By the way does anyone know what the towboat is?
Old     (wakeworld)      Join Date: Jan 1997       06-24-2003, 10:23 AM Reply
The towboat is the thing that floats in the water with an engine and it pulls all the wakeboarders. It also creates a wake that the wakeboarders can use to jump off of. You'll find them at most tournaments. :-)

My daughter is having a dance recital on that day, so I can't make it out. Can someone (or everyone) snap some pics for me? I'd really appreciate it!

Oh Dave you are a really funny guy, you are just crackin me up. I think the dance recital thing is just a cover up, you are just afraid of the abuse that you will recieve, admit it. j/k

I'll be there, what's up with 7 days advance paying? How are you supposed to skip out if you have to pay in advance?
Old     (geoff_l)      Join Date: Mar 2002       06-24-2003, 1:53 PM Reply
Did we just get a new nickname for Sean? "Skip" Canaday, I like it .

Randy, in the past they've used Tyler's Calabria for the novice & beginner divisions and someone usually brings a Nautique for all other divisions. You should probably enter the intermediate division if they still have one.

I believe Damien Klaas is taking his SANTE down there, motor and all.

I'll probably be there throwing lame trick after lame trick (all four of them) and commenting about edging the whole time!!!! Does throwing a backroll and landing on my head count as an invert? I was upside down. 42 y.o., I don't know, probably men's beginner or intermediate. Anyone who suggests "veteran" better have their own boat cuz I won't pull ya if you don't keep my fragile ego in mind.
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-24-2003, 4:36 PM Reply
Well in that case, I'll suggest intermediate, haha
Old    stormrider            06-24-2003, 4:40 PM Reply
Kristian, I see you're in, you need practice pulls? I'm heading out Th., Fri. and could probably fit you in one of those days. I might have 1 spot on Saturday, as well. Let me know. Only thing: if I pull ya, you've gotta throw a 720 off a double up Sunday and this time not just land it but also ride away from it . . . .

I wanted to do a fashion air off the DU.
Old    stormrider            06-24-2003, 4:48 PM Reply
Then you'd better do that "trick" at the end of your run cuz the boat stops like a fat boy in front of a cake once that trick's in my mirror (Sorry Sean!!)

Steve, I rode in the veteran division once and got smoked by a couple of really good "older" riders. I have found that unfortunately some very good riders that should be in the division above intermediate will sandbag just so they can place in the top 3 in the class. It all depends on who signs up--you have to feel it out. You could watch the warm-ups and see what you're up against. You could enter novice which is between beginner and intermediate.

Luke,

How do you think this stuff up? Dude your killing me. If I had read that at work people would have been wondering why I was laughing out loud. Good thing I got laid off!

Directions: I-5 south to the Sea World Drive exit, make the first right then the first left (puts you onto Fiesta Island) and then drive around the island until you see the course.

Enough of this sandbagging crap. I think everyone should ride in outlaw.

As a card carrying member of the Fashion Air Force, I think that we should all "fashion" out our tricks for Steven, and then eat cake in front of him (I'm a pretty fat boy myself)! (j/k-lol)

I'm out riding this morning at San V with my son and Sean Canaday. I take the first run. Sean goes second.

Damn if he doesn't throw a biggggg 'ol fashion air, smiling the whole time, right there near the turn bouy at the north end of the lake!!!

Maybe I should make the new rule you absolutely, positively cannot ride on my boat if you bring a pretty woman with you . . .

So now they'll be four rules. 1. No fashion airs; 2. No bad crashes. If the jump looks or feels bad, toss the handle 3. No pretty women; and, 4. Remember rules 1-3!
