I know a big ACME prop will give me more power, but does a prop change affect how my boat will plane? I feel like the MC 205v requires a lot of weight up front to keep the nose down. I'm wondering if the prop affects this at all, or is it just more low end horse?

Thanks guys.

Yes it will plane way faster.

Thanks Clay. I guess I'm not referring to it planing out from the start. I guess I'm talking about how the boat will ride after planing. I can get the boat up to speed now, but it seems pretty back heavy unless I have quite a bit up front. I'm wondering if the boat will ride a little more 'bow down' with an upgraded prop. Or, does this only affect planing out quickly to get the rider up?

Sorry, I'm probably not wording this well.

I think your question is: Will the attitude of my boat change with a prop change? Typically, no. The attitude of the boat is dictated by hull shape, trim tabs, speed, and weight. The prop will have very little to do with the boat's attitude.}

From my experience, no, the prop will not effect the rise of the nose of the boat

The easiest fix would be to increase the amount of weight in the front of the boat or decrase the weight in the back. This in turn will help you get on plane better, force the front of the boat down into the water, and help with the firmness of the wake.

Sweet. That's what I wanted to know. I've been weighting the bow quite a bit to keep the wake firm, but wanted to see if a prop change could allow me to be a little lazier in ride prep. Thanks for the info fellas!

Adding a Bennett wake plate trim system will let you adjust the attitude of the boat and you can use it to get you on plane faster, and plane at a slower speed. When you have it all the way up your wake is basically the same as it is now.
