I currently have a 98 Sanger DLX. It came to me with the drivers side heater and dual batteries under the dash area. I am interested in moving the batteries into the storage area under the observer seat area so that I can make room for a subwoofer box where they are currently located. It seemed on the Sangers this was a common mod when I was looking at different boats. How hard is it to move the batteies in there? Whats involved? I am assuming there is no way to just add a battery line extension to the new location? Wheres the best place to run the cables? I need to get some batter cable anyway since I will be adding a Perko switch at the same time.

Do you have any photos of the heater? I have the same boat and I'm thinking about a heater. As for the batteries, there is plenty of room on the other side, you just need to run new cables.

I dont have any pictures of the heater. It mounts on the side wall with a air duct in and one going out to an adjustable vent mounted on the floor. My guess is that it was factory installed.

I understand there is plenty of room in the side compartment under the observor seat. Do I have route all new cables from the engine area? Where is there a place to route the cables?

It's been a long time since I did it to my DLX, but I'm pretty sure you can just pull the cables under the floor on the drivers side and pull them back up on the passenger side. Pull up the access cover in the center of the floor and take a look under there. It's tight in there, but it's do able if I remember correctly.

Incidently... I think the holes already there. Use the opening where the fresh air hose goes through the floor. Mine was a '02, but I'm not sure if it's different or not. I had to remove the fiberglass cover that was over the fresh air hose in order to do my install.

You could, but you don't need run new cables all the way to the engine, you could just extend them to the current battery location and make a connection there. Evan is correct, you will see the openings for the fresh air hoses when you take off the access covers.
