My board is an 05 Freemotion 134, I've been riding it for about a year and a half. I'm about 6'1 160lbs and my landings seem really hard on my knees, is the board too small or am I just going bigger? I'd like to know so I can start saving for a new board if I should have one.

It would be better for you to have a board at least 138. I am 5'9" and 160lbs, I probably wouldn't go smaller than a 136. Currently I ride a 139 3ds or 138 Murray. I have ridden a 142 but I like the feel of what I ride. Not much of a size diff but I like it better. I know a guy about your size with a handful of inverts and he rides a 134 Watson. It is a little wider though. I think he has some knee probs though. Demo if you can and go with what feels good to you.

a lot of people will say "yes"...but I'm 6'1 185lbs...ridin' an '07 Watson 134 (wish it was 136). but I think it's personal preference....I've ridden 138, 140, 142 and didn't like them so much. we're talking centimeters here so unless you go above 138/140, you probably won't "feel" much of a difference. of course, some of the newer boards are wider and I think this exaggerates the overall size and makes a board just feel bigger. bottom line....try out a longer board but don't get talked into a bigger board because "the chart says so"....

That's what I thought thanks, it just seems my knees hurt on landings and I want to help stop that, it's not the bindings I have the 07 factions.

way too small!!!
think about it - shane bonifay - real short guy - real light - rides a 134.

You should be on a 143.

But if youre comfy on whatever board youre on, then youre comfy. But at your height and weight - you should be on a 143.

134 for a 6foot 160lb dude? "youre" crazy sean. Read up on some material...check out what the pros are rockin at thier height and weight.
But if hes comfy at 134 - more power to him. But like hes saying - landings are killing him - cuuuzzzz hes on too short of a board.

You're obviously not comfortable on the 134. But IMO 143 is going to be a tad to big. If you go with a 139 you'd be looking at a perfect board. But as always demo it first, don't like it, go up a size. Keep demoing until you find one that is made just for you.

136-140 wide boards 139 LF Team or a 142 Era would be my recommendations for slightly narrower boards. Yes, a 134 Free Motion is more than likely too small for your weight.

Shane rides a 136 btw

miguel says i should read up on some material, lol you should considering height really has nothing to do with a wakeboard. and why would you look at the pros to see what to ride? they ride what they do cause theyve done it for the past 10 years they arent weekend warriors like u migs

dude im 5'7-9" and about 135 pounds and i ride a ronix frontier 137. i had a clinic with Kyle Schmidt the other day and he was tellin us how its better to ride with a bigger board. it may take a little more effort to spin but the landings are soft and it sits higher up in the water so its harder to catch an edge.

You have to look at it from a physics point of view. I am 6'1 and about 175 and I ride a 139 or 141 depending on the day. I know the boards are only "centemeters" but a little make all the change in the world. Look at it a bigger board mean more surface area and thus you ride higher in the water. So when you come in for a jump your board will not cut through the wake so much and ride on top of it more, thus giving you more pop. I know the argument that a shorter board means less swing weight, and faster spins, this is true but with less pop you cant throw it in time. With a board that is longer you get more pop physically and more time to swing or spin, or what have you. I know a lot of people that love the shorter boards feel that they get the same amount of pop, but I challange you to try the correct size board for your weight and youll see the difference.

Get a bigger board, if you want to stick with a 134 then go to a board like the CWB Marius 134cm,it rides bigger due to the extra width of the board.

I am 5'8" and 145lbs and ride a Watson 134...I love it and the size seems perfect for me. However, some of my larger friends have tried my 134's and they seem too small...

your painful landings could have as much to do with stance as board size/shape... I am on the small end for a person my size... you are also on the small end... I ride a 138 and am 5-10, probably over 195-200lbs wet, but with a wide stance on that board I dont have a problem with landings as most are wake to wake cuts and when I do land in the flat, I just make sure to land with really good body position bending my knees...
