What is the best value for a first wakeboard/comp boat? Our only real criteria is that we'd prefer a v-drive boat and a hull that performs o.k. in slightly choppy waters. This will be our first family boat, with two young kids. We figured we'd skip the run-about option and go right to a wakeboard/v-drive boat. Thoughts? Thanks

What's you price range???? There is a thread going right now for boats around 30K. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3183/423849.html?1173842285There are many boats that would fit the bill for you. I agree with you as far as skipping the I/O. I had a 21 foot maxum and soon realized that it wasn't what I wanted. I dropped 35K for my Supra (see profile) and I couldn't be happier. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Erick, thought you were gonna say something to the effect of "check out Calabria's Pro V, I think they're entry level..."

Yes, first power boat ever, other than when I was a kid. I used to race Hobie cats. Price range is probably is around $25K. Been looking mostly used, since it seems most new boats are well above that, as far as what I've seen. We are going to a boat show here in Portland, OR this weekend. It seems Supra, Tige, Moomba and Calabria have reasonably priced, good boats.

I'm sorry to stir the pot but what Tige is entry level? A new 20v is still gonna come in around $36k and then you have a very small boat that has no where near the wake of a Sanger V210. Sparky called it right, the Sanger makes a pro quality wake and can be had for right around $34k pretty much decked out with everything but a trick stereo. See my profile for a Sanger wake pic. For around $25k you are clearly going to be going for a used boat. A used Sanger is awesome and can be had for that price range. Granted I look for wake quality which Sanger is a hidden gem. If you aren't as worried about that there are many fine offerings from Moomba, Centurion and others. I'm partial to value & I've found the most in Sangers (I don't own one). The last piece of advice I can offer is to get behind some boats & see what you like. Once you narrow it down, get to hunting, deals can be found if you are patient and do your homework. Lastly, is your first name Harry? That would be awesome!!! http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/7/87615487.htm

Give Delta Sport Boat a call, they have one might have one Sanger V210 left for a un-printable price. Also look into the Moomba line very nice boats and definately in the price range. 07 has lots of quality without the sticker shock.

X-1, V-ride, Moomba V, Sanger V210 are the ones that come to mind. I would probably shoot for an X-1 if it fits your budget.

Gerry O - we are going to try to hit the Boat show Friday night between 6 and 8. Looks like Active water sports will have Moomba's? We'll swing by. Erick D., I talked to the guy on the Mobius in Seattle, sounded like a great deal..he must have sold it within the past couple of days, as he said he'd call if it was still available. Thanks for all the input.
