My cig lighter in my boat doesn't work and I'm wanting to get a pump and some bags soon, can I cut the wires going to the cig connection on the pump and attach those straight to the batt.?

the cig lighter male piece on the pump contains a fuse on it. AS long as you fuse the positive side of the pum your fine. I would replace/fixe your cig lighter.

if you're perplexed by rewiring the female plug, you may think about those alligator clip jobs.

You can it but you will have to take apart the cig. lighter end on your pump and then rig it to the battery.

It would probaly be easier to just replace the broken cig lighter.

I've seen those fuses on after market pumps go out a lot when people try to mess with their wiring systems.
