Got a chance to buy a bank owned 2006 323. Fully loaded. Making a low ball offer thinking they don't want to own and store it over winter. This would be my big lake boat. They are expensive but worth it?

Yikes - didn't realize that would be a 6 figure used boat. Seeing the NADA values and what they are selling for, I am guess you offered just under 100k?

I have a 292 and love it.Do you plan to sleep on it? The 323 is really nice, but I would go rather have the open bow for more people. nobody wants to sit in the cutty when its 100 degrees and sunny. What does it have for power? You don't want to little.

The 496s should do great. You will love the boat. Cobalt is second to none.

Edgar,
Where on Lake Michigan do you plan on keeping it?

no. only reason i am considering this is because it is bank owned.

You can find some really nice 360s that are not bank owned for around the 100-135K mark. bank owned is not a plus. generally people that get things repo'd take care of things as renters.

I looked at a 360 at the beginning of the season. It was a nice boat and priced right around 100K. I didn't end up buying it because I liked the Formula 33SS and 37SS better. I didn't end up buying either due to storage issues but I did think that the 360 felt "small" for a 36' boat. Never checked out the 323 but I'm sure it's nice. If you make a move get a survey done!!! Especially if it's bank owned. Seriously, get a survey!!!

Is a survey like carfax?

I know the placed that services it well. The head mechanics are two of my best friends. The boat is very well taken care of.

looks like the lower 100k ones are 2003 or 4. I like the seating layout of the 323 better.

Yeah, I have never actually been in a 360, but they do appear to be tight compared to some similiar layouts. I am sure the 323 won't disappoint.

the bank rejected my first offer. which i think they are stupid to do. it is going to be winter here soon so they have to pay for storage and lose another half of year.

A Survey, like a proper marine survey. It will cost you a few hundred bucks but it could potentially save you in the long run. Have them ride along on the sea trial. They will go through every function and system on the boat to let you know if anything is messed up. I personally wouldn't take delivery of any boat, used, or new with spending the dough for one... But hey that's just my opinion, and after all it's your money.
