oh my, an AR15 last week and this weekend I'm going to look at a Kel Tec PMR-30 (.22 Magnum 30 rounds in the clip) with 3 extra clips this weekend.

Wish our local outdoor range would open! Been closed due to dryness and possible fires. Rained a little earlier today and they are opening it for hunter sight in only tomorrow and Sunday. Think I could convince them that the PMR-30 and AR are for hunting and do need to be sighted?

I just picked up an ACOG TA31RCO- M150 yesterday and now need to build another AR. This one will be a no compromise AR. I am thinking I will use Noveske or LaRue and start tricking it out. I am not a piston AR fan really so I am leaning towards Noveske. Other options would be LWRC or of course: the gun that killed OBL- the HK 416 (556). I really like Daniel Defense and LMT but don't think they are quite in the same league wit the Noveske.

I am looking to get my first handgun. Full sized (not compact) and 9mm.

Any opinion of striker fire vs hammer fire? Also, must have and nice to have safety features?

So far, I have enjoyed the following (rental) contenders at the range...

Springfield XD
Sig Sauer P226 Elite

I am also looking at...

Berreta PX4 Storm
Walther PPQ

Are there others I should try?

Also, what importance should I place on a decocker and physical safety?

I LOVE my springfield xd in 9mm. But make sure it fits your hand and is comfortable. I also have an xd in 45, an xd subcompact in 40sw. All are outstanding, reliable and damn accurate. Not 1 malfunction in any of them and have hundreds of rounds through them.

I too am looking for my first gun and it looks like the XD9M is my top choice currently. Matched barrel, lifetime warranty(transferable to your children), very easy to take apart, very comfortable and a 19 shell mag. I was blown away compared to the SC9 and Glocks.

The XD is a Awesome Gun comes with a Holster, lock , 2 Mag's and a mag holder that holds both mags.
The Walther PPQ is not available here in Ca. For what reason? I have no Idea.
