If you ride them, the Premier will probably take you further.

Never ridden the balance but I dont know many people that dont like the Premier. Remember that the Premier changed names for 04 - the design is now called the Era. The 04 Premier has a new design (not heard much about it but a couple of unfavorable comments).

Balance. Ride both, pick what works best for you. The Balance has the cupped fins. While you are edging the board hooks up. When you ease off, you can slide the board around easily. The Premier seemed looser overall to me. I heard that a loose board will force you to have better posture.

I have ridden both the Balance and the Premier. I like both a lot, but if you plan to ride without the center fin, the Premier is definitely the way to go. The Balance pops better, but the Premier is a lot more predictable...

Why do people take out the center fin? Is it for sliders?

Taking the center fin out will allow the board to release quicker off the wake. And yes, also take the center fin out for sliders. I wouldn't even bother hitting sliders with the Balance as it has no molded fins at all, and if you take all the fins off it's Very slick! Not sure how the cupped fins would hold up on sliders if you left them on...? The Premier still performs excellent with just the molded fins

Figure out which Premier you are talking about. I am on a '04 right now and it is a very different board from the original premier. It isn't forgiving in the same way, but is a lot more board in a lot of ways. It pops harder and is a bit faster than the old board, but is completely flat in the center on the bottom, so it has a tendency to move a lot if you land front foot heavy. All in all I really like the new premier. That said....a boards, pretty much, a board.

Pretty much personal preference. Personally I hated the 04 Premier. It's the only board that I have ever ridden that I completely disliked.

Go with the Balance cuz once I heard from a friend that his sister's boyfriend's cousin had a friend who's uncle's roommate broke a premier. God people all boards break. LF, Hyperlite, CWB, Obrien, Gator ALL OF THEM. Balance is faster then the premier and in my opinion pops a little better and has better tail lift off the wake. Both are good boards and kinda similar in ride aside from those minor differences.
