My buddy has a 2006 Malibu 23 LSV with just barely over 200hrs and the v-drive decided it did not want to stay in one piece. Metal pieces everywhere in the compartment. I wasn't on the lake when it happened but I towed him in with my cheapy 08 Moomba XLV ( sorry couldn't resist). Anyone got a ballpark figure on replacement with labor?

I changed mine out. Took me 4+ hours. It's only 4 bolts for the prop shaft and 4 nuts holding on the v-drive to the tranny. Do you have a walter v-drive? I got my walter for around $900.

I'm not familiar with brands of boat parts yet since I'm a noob to inboards. However, the case that is houses part of the v-drive system (sorry for my poor words) basically exploded and pieces were everywhere. We could see the gears and some looked scarred.

Hmmm, it's made of cast iron or steel. Take a picture and post it. The brand should be on the actual unit.
