trying to get the original or one that looks similar to the factory windshield of a 1978 stars and stripes mastercraft. havent had any luck with the local boat windshield makers. all they can suggest is a square glass frame and the original is curved.

also, any good photos of this boat online? im wondering if the one i had is even original and will like to look at some of the details that are original of this boat for this restoring project.

thanks

Did you try contacting MasterCraft directly? They may be able to either sell it to you through your local dealer or they might be able to put you in touch with the original manufacturer.

Paco - keep an eye on old beater-boats for sale. I do not believe that windshield was a MC specific part and I've seen old beater out-boards with what looked exacly like the MC windshield for very cheap. You might be able to get a windshield and a 'parts boat/trailer' for free. Just an idea?

Look in the classified area on the MC site.

The original windshield was probably made by Taylor Made products. I use to have a tournament boat of that vintage and I was able to get a new replacement windshield about 4 years ago. It was a standard catalog item at the time.

Unfortunately, I understand that Taylor has discontinued that model, but they might be able to help you, or there might be one sitting in someones's stock room somewhere.

If you still have your original windshield and the metal frame is in good condition you might be able to get a local plastics guy to make you a new one.

Have you removed your old whindsheild yet? When I replaced mine, I had to take the deck off the boat in order to get to a couple of the bolts! What a pain that was! Then I could never get the new one to fit exactly like the old one and ended up with a couple of extra holes.

All things considered, I think that if I had to do it again I would start from scratch and install a new style glass windsheild.
