O.K. summer is coming closer every day here and i need a boat this year.
Here are my two choices.

1989 supra Mariah 21ft open bow with a 454 that has about 390hrs.

1984 mastercraft powerslot 190 with a 351 that has 750 hrs

both boats are about the same condition and same price. I was just woundering what boat will throw a better wake and is the 351 to small of a motor to be pushing weight.

if anyone has any comments on these boats that would be great.

the supra will throw a MUCH better wake. the 454 will drink a lot more gas.

The supra is a great boat. We had an 89 Supra Mariah w/ the 454 and the ride was great. It is a bigger boat so the wake should be bigger.

You can't go wrong with the 84 MC and the 351 has plenty of power! I own one and its a great motor!

I have owned an 88 MC prostar. Only complaint I would have is that with larger wakeboarder {above 190lbs} with a extended pole the boat can be pulled side to side which washed out the wake. imo 351 had plenty of mustard for 700+ ballast and a 200lb wakeboarder. Just a thought to consider about size compared to Supra.

Bigger boat - bigger wake.

The biggest difference is the open bow. A little extra room for friends never hurt. You'll spend more on gas, but less hours sounds better to me.

Recent maitenance will give a good indication of what the boat has been through.

The Supra in my opinion has a better hull for boarding. I think it displaces the water a little better then the MC. They are both well made boats, but I believe the Supra would fit your needs a little better.

Thanks for all of the posts i was actually gearing towards the supra mainly because of the room of the open bow.

I'm going to see it next weekend hopefully its what i expect.

Hope the boats in good shape. I think you'll be happy with your choice.

Great choice! The 190 can actually throw a great wake weighted properly, but,... with the weight you will need to sink it will allow NO room in the boat. You will love your new Supra!

Don't let putting gas in the 454 scare you. We used to have an '86 Supra Saltare with the 454. I thought it was reasonably efficient considering the size of the boat.

jay -there might be a bigger motor in the boat but being weighted down will work a 351 harder than the 454 so my geuss is they won't be too far off. At least thats my theory.
