I have a Clarion marine deck. I dont know which model but it was the one they used in the 99 Mastercraft XStar. Obviously no RCA imputs for a good connection to an IPOD. I don't want to use the FM Transmitter b/c I have a pretty nice sytem and dont want to lose the quality. So I am considering either buying a new deck with RCA imputs or just using a FM modulator to get the RCA through the radio ant. Is there much of quality loss with the FM MOD. I would rather use this b/c a new deck is expensive and dont want to do that right now. Plus I have a FM Mod alread just not installed

You might be able to buy an auxillary input adapter which would go into the cd changer plug.

I'm with Buzz, especially in the DFW area FM transmitters suck. My iTrip didn't work well at all in Dallas, plus your stereo really only picks up the 'mids' it doesn't receive the highs and lows very well. IMO your best bet is to get like a $100 head with a minijack input in the front, or just get one with an aux input.

I bought an IPOD2CAR (by Perphial) to hook into my CD changer controller ... definitely the way to go. Can switch tracks with the standard remote as well. I have it hooked up in my truck right now and it works great. Total cost was around $150.

FM modulators suck big time. You might try this place, they sell lots of interface devices like Patrick mentioned

Hmmm We bought the Monster FM modulator with charger and works great. We have driven several trips and tried cranking it and everything and did not lose quality. People recomended to me that these FM modulators suck also, but told us to get the Monster one and we are happy..

Which model clarion head unit do you have. I just hooked up my xm and mp3 player to my clarion xmd-1 through the changer control. The unit was stock in an 01 X-9. It dosn't have an aux input. Took a little work but works fine. I have a thread about it with a wiring diagram in the audio section of this forum.
