I currently ride and Ibex 139 and love it want to get a recoil and was going to get the 138. However because of flex was wondering if they ride small? Should I go for a 142 instead?

more so its that the boards ride light. SS boards are one of the lightest boards on the market (without breaking the bank for a 600 dollar + board) how tall are you and what is your weight? i am 6ft even 165lbs and ride a 142

I would go 142, it felt lighter and more mobile than my 134 Ibex

the ibex was fun but just felt clunky, it had good pop, was pretty fast on edge, overall a pretty good board... then came the recoil, even the 07, the original was lighter, popped better, just as good on edge, the flex was fun as can be and landings are 1000 times softer. I thought I really liked the Ibex until the recoil came along, and the 09 is much better than 07/08 models. Basically, I would never go back unless I got free Ibex's for life.

answers my question! I tried on the PB and hated them had to wear 12 not tight enough they felt big and bulky and VERY stiff.

I just got a pair of Floyds... I really like them, they were crazy stiff until I got them wet a few times... if I would fall I would just sit in the water and rocker them back and forth and they softened up really fast

Why 142 over 138?? What's the difference? And did you demo behind boat or cable?

I have not demoed them but want something flex for the park but primarily I am behind the boat. The recoil according to people I have talked to is their boat board. I went with the 142 on the suggestions of people here and other places. Will let you know how I like it Thursday. I also ordered a pair watson LTD bindings. I know John really likes his and have demoed the regular Watsons. Maybe Nick or Tom both guys that post a lot can expound on why.

with slingshot boards bigger doesn't seem bigger. My I use to ride small boards (last two before Slingshot were 132 and 134) and both of those boards felt much heavier and clunkier on the water. Big boards = big surface area = big pop Downside of big boards is the swing weight and have clunky they feel on the water, since SS boards are sooooo thin both of those problems aren't an issue.

also with the flex you'll get more out of a bigger board.... if you try to bend a stick thats 4" long and 1" thick it won't really work... now try bending the same thickness but 10", works much easier

^ Hahaha. Yikes. I was on the 134 Ibex and like it but honestly the 142 Recoil feels easier to throw around than the little Ibex I am honestly the exact same size as you, 6' 185lbs and it is PERFECT. Trust me, you'll love it. What year did you go with?

Nick rides his behind boat. He seems to love it. Never heard anyone say their crap and if it behaves like an Ibex and lands nicer that would be great. Also with the flex great for the park .

getting the pop timed out on the boat takes a set or two, like any other board, but once you get it oh baby... it will ride as good/better than any other board out there.

just took my first set with my 07 recoil and loved it! felt sooo much more responsive and lighter than my 09 ltd watson. the pop was nice and clean and was able to land pretty much all my stuff easily first try with it so im gonna start riding it over my ltd watson. i was curious.. how much better and/or different is the 09 recoil shape compared to 07 shape. and is it worth forking out money for and 09?

^ About 1000000000000000 million times better. the 07/08 blew my Ibex out of the water, the 09 blew my 07/08 out of the water. 100% WORTH THE MONEY.... best money I spent all summer.

The verdict is in. IBEX will be sold. Loved the recoil. Glad I got the 142. Nick was dead on with the swing weight. Surface tricks a cake walk. Only took two small sets because of rain. Was able to do everything I could before. Edging was different and do not totally have it down on my toe side cut out. Great board and never going back!!!`

Wooop Wooooop! The more you ride it the more you'll love it. I'm glad you're happy with the decision... I always get scared when I talk the board up so much that people will hate it.... ENJOY!

Glad you convinced me on the size. The swing weight was dead on. Loved being able to nail some surface tricks I have yet to be able to do. Will be interesting to see how I ride it without fins at the park will update. I will say it is a bit more slippery and keeping edge toe side was tuff but like I say was on the board a total of 20 mins and I am a beg/int rider. BTW love my watsons too. Sorry slingshot on that on just did not like the PB. Wish I could have ridden a pair first but had put some time on watsons and loved them.
