I've been reading these posts for a while now, and I've found everyone is rockin' from a 300hp engine to a 450hp engine. An engine of these sizes is:
a.) Powerful
b.)a gas guzzeler
c.) loud
I am personally cool and except with all of these things but, how do you hear music from your tower speakers. Is two speakers not enough, is four too loud? We have a 350hp MCX in our boat and I personally love loud music. I also hate angering the neighbors and having the cops right me tickets. How many tower speakers should we get, and what kind are the best? How many amps do we need also?

Go with any pro audio gear, that use horns. That will take care of it. If you go with 4 6.5 car stereo component speakers it will be hard to hear them with the wind noise and everything. I had 4 6.5's on my old boat and the sound quality wasn't that great and it was hard to hear when you were riding. However on my new boat I went with one pair of the NVS addictions and I'm putting 400 watts to each speaker. These speakers rock and are cristal clear at 60 -70 back when riding. I was very impressed. You don't have to go with NVS, there are other pro audio grade speakers out there but i'm very pleased with mine. As far as the amp goes, I went with a four channel and crossed it over to 2. Just make sure that the amp can be crossed over and still be set up to in stereo mob / Hipass mode.

Anything you can hear over the engine, water and wind noise will be loud enough to anger the neighbors.

You could do a Fresh Air Exhaust system to decrease the boat noise.

Get a waterproof MP3 player or IPOD and your problems are solved. Cheaper too!
