Dude the ERA is the old premier and its a bit faste rthen both those boards listed..the byerly has ton of pop but its a hard board to get used to as it releasses funny and late withg theose cutouts and the premier is great but will pop about the same as your era ...

go demo many boards until you find one you like ...

try a 04 or 05 cwb platinum... Great ride and awesome pop as well as easy as hell to break free for surface tricks.

The 04 prodigy platinum is cool as well... but as other metioned demo a few.

I would go with the Byerly. I have only ridden both that and the Premier a few times, but the byerly seemed more loose and released from the surface easily.

Or, like Greg said, you could always go with the Absolute Platinum, haha. I love mine.

Have you considered anything other than a pro model?

If you are a Hyperlite fan demo a Motive, or how about a State. These boards might not have Danny, Parks', or Scott's name on them but they are great boards that ride very well. They are also a little more forgiving, but at the same time offer most of the performance of a pro model, which a novice rider like you can benefit from. Also consider riding a continuous rocker rather than a 3-Stage, it well help you be more consistent, which in turn will make it easier to learn the important things such as proper technique.

hahahahaha Toolfan and Thane. You guys are talking shizzle and this guy thinks you are cereal . Hey Zack I will let you in on the joke. The symbol means that they are being sarcastic. The Parks is a great board but not for everyone. Do what Bill said and demo some boards.

Go for the 03 Byerly. I have one, and it's perfect for me. Enough pop to get my ass in the air while still not being overly aggressive, and it breaks free when i want it to but still sticks when i want to carve. CWB Platinum is also a wise choice, although it skates out a little more than i'd like.

I ride a parks dna and it sends me on my arss alot. If I were to do it again, I would get a bit of a mellower board. I'm getting used to the ride tho, my legs are getting really strong...

I ride an 03 Premier and love it, I've demo'd the Byerly and the Parks and didn't particularly like either one of them and my buddy who has an 02 Parks has been wanting a different board for a couple seasons now.

Umm, I could be wrong but, Parks didn't have a Pro Model in 2002.

Shawn ~ you are correct. Just bindings in 2002. 2003 was his 1st board.

I Ride a 04 Parks DNA and I love it!!!
But I am sure there are many other boards that
you can find that will suit your riding ability
and style.

What's a CWB Platinum? If it's just a Platinum you will get 6 different shapes in as many different sizes, but I'm sure you knew that. As for Thane & cohorts getting this guy to buy a Parks, jokes on you, good work guys.

the parks does have a slightly larger 3 stage rocker. i think the flat spot is something like ten or twelve inches. The byerly has a something like a eight or ten inch flat spot. Slightly smaller than the parks but still huge for industry standards. The advantages to the new byerly in my opinion is that it rides smoother than the parks does. I have the parks and like the pop that it offers but not how it rides. I prefer the way the premier rides in terms how how mooth it rides and transitions from edge to edge. The new byerly doesn't ride as rough as many multiple fins that I have rode do.(byerly does not have multiple fins but you should consider the difference between a board with multiple fins and one with a single fin or molded fins. Ride characteristics vary between these different designs) The Byerly is a good choice because you get the largest three stage you can and still maintain a smooth board that is more "user friendly" than the parks. Not to say that the parks is not user friendly but is an advance board that should be rode by someone that seeks a board that is very quick in and out of the wake and has huge pop. if you land a little awkward the parks is more likely to catch an edge or fin and send you to the water. Boards like the byerly or premier, im most case, will correct itself out of an awkward landing letting you ride away from that sketchy landing. Anyway good luck in your decision. Take Care

dude the 03 byerly is a sick ride. way more practical function then any parks or 04/05 byerlys. the new byerlys are extremely slow. I've rode an old byelry for a couple of seasons now and just upgraded to something a lil quicker and snappier and got an 04 substance. your old era is a sick board so if you want to step up to something faster go substance, absoulute, premier(even though it is slower).

My buddy got it direct from the Hyperlite factory in 02, could have been the 03 model though, it's white with a black design on it, course I think that could describe last years model too though...

The white was the 03 model year boards

Evil - Not saying that your wrong, I'm just saying it would have to be an '03 model that he bought late in '02.

fast boards are awesome....do you think it would be harder to perfect your progessive cut into the wake on a fast board like the parks rather than a slower board like the ERA aka o.g. premier or byerly?
