I've always heard you should stick with like enclosures in a vehicle/boat. For instance both ported both sealed. Wouldn't I be getting the best of both worlds by combining them? Tight kick drum bass with the sealed box and the lower/louder freq. with the ported enclosure. I'm designing a new system and want to put a sealed sub hidden away under the observer seat and a slot port under the dash at the drivers feet. I'm wondering if having them separated like that would improve the mixing so-to-speak of the enclosures and thier sound.
Any experience good or bad welcome.

I have two ported 10's and one sealed 12. No complaints.
