Ok this is my question.
Why do tower speakers have cotton in them, and how come there are no vent holes?

I thought speakers needed to breath?

Thanks for any info

The cotton is actually polyester fiber-fill. It is there to make the speaker think the enclosure is bigger than it really is. It also helps with the acoustical resonance. The only time you want a vent hole is if it is a exact size and length to "tune" the enclosure for a better bass response. Otherwise it is best to have a fully sealed chamber.
