The title might be a bit misleading, but I've been shopping for a new stick and am completely blown away at the experience. I like riding big boards, currently on a 56" Monarch but have had a 145 Response, 146 One, 143 Gonzales, 143 Patterson, 142 Byerly's and also small sticks like the Fish, Squirt, Helix ... anyway I've had many many boards over the years as I was a shop manager back in the day. I also backcountry snowboard now and ride a 173cm (which also kicks a** on resort). I haven't bought a new wakeboard in 3 seasons, but new job (more money) and I'm back in the shops. I'm really liking the new Ronix One shape, so everywhere I go I'm asking about the 146cm. I can't tell you how many places told me "that's way too big". Granted I'm not very tall (5'9") and 185-190lbs... one shop manager said "even if I had it, there is no way I would sell it to you. I wouldn't sell you anything over 140".
Long story short, I managed to find a 146 Timebomb at Boardstop, who were awesome to deal with. I wanted to stay in Canada but called shops throughout BC and a couple in Alberta and was disappointed with the results.
Guess I'm just spreading the word that you should ride what you like... don't let the kids at the shop talk you into getting something you won't be comfortable on. And if you work at a shop, remember the sizing charts are a guide and people fall at various points within the spectrum.
I'm over 30 now so I guess this is an old guy rant
