Hey guys... What's there to do in Austin in April. Is it a decent time of year to ride. Anyone live near there and want to take me out?Cable parks close by?

Apparently I've got some family there on my wifes side that is having a reunion. She really wants to go and is trying to talk me into it. I'll need some sort of justification. She already offered up golfing, but that alone isn't enough. If I can get some pulls in then I may be swayed. Otherwise, I think I'll just play the family outcast and stay home.

Ha, ha, ha.

So, what's the deal?

Hey Evan,

Here's something to get you started! Austin is a really fun town.. lots of places to hide from the in-laws!

Yep, you will be very close to TSR which is an awesome place to do some cable riding. Jeff is probably 2.5-3 hours or so from Austin.

Evan,

Lake Austin will be very nice during the week, but the water is always cold. The weekends...blown out after 10am! If you ride Lake Austin, be sure to eat at the Hula Hut by the dam!

IF, BIG IF, they get some rain between now & then, you should check out the Pedernales River West of Austin (pic below). We live in Florida, but own property out there. Assuming there is water, I have a couple of options for you if you need a pull.

Also, check out www.360wakeboard.com!

I second the Hula Hut! I go back to Austin every Thanksgiving, and the Hula Hut is a must.

Seriously... you don't want to come... Because if you do, you will want to leave Cali and move there.. The influx of Californians has been unbelievable!!!

Nice lakes, Nice people, Nice pretty much everything... And with all the money you save by NOT living in Cali, you will be able to take as many vacations to the west coast as you'd like!!!

Austin is an awesome town! Hit up 360wakeboard for sure. Tons of guys here that can give you a pull, hit up BG with freeride wakeboard school or greg lawerence with lake lessons. They know everyone in town and can cordinate a pull. Both on 360.

I would offer you a pull but selling my boat right now and building a new one but not sure if I can get it done by then.

TSR is always great as it is 1.5 hour. So worth a day trip for sure.

Lake Austin will be cold for sure. Always cold. It is fed by the bottom of Lake Travis so the cold water from a very deep lake feeds it. Dead of summer when it is 100 degrees outside, Lake Austin is still 65!! But in april we ride with heater top is all so not too bad.

Also, if you like live music. Austin is the live music captial of the world. So be sure to check out some bands.http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/section?name=Music

http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Calendar/MusicListings

You can check out dates when you will be in town and see if there is any bands you like playing downtown.

Hit up Dizzy (236) or myself (210) for pulls while you're here. Either way we'll take care of you.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'll keep you posted if I roll down. I'll let my wife know that I'd be down for a trip down south.

I considered texas a couple years back. The only thing that really keeps me here is family and friends. My wife's company has an office in TX and I'm sure I could find work somewhere.
