Anyone ever PlastiDip their swim platform or tower?!

Our platform is starting to show its age and wouldn't mind another look besides the wood... the tower too, and don't really want to do another powder coat - so its either spray paint or plastidip

Rhinolining is more than I want to spend and really don't want to take the time to properly "refinish" it... so I'm thinking plastidip maybe a good option.

It has held up well on all my car's emblems and just curious if anyone else has used it for this?

I Line X'd my swim platform for $ 80.00 and I'm sure will be the best protectant I could have put on it.

It will probably start to peel off the first time a board hits the platform. It is not designed to be used like that.

Shoot thats not bad, might be the best route.... does it get crazy hot in the summer sun, or does the water keep it pretty in check?

Plastic Dipped my swim platform last weekend. Worked fine, yes if something hit's not going to hold up well. But it looks great and is easily touched up.

^ i'll probably end up doing that first, it'll cost all of maybe $20 to do the whole thing.... if it doesn't last, oh well.

Nick, if you are really planning on selling that boat, I would strongly recommend against covernig the teak with anything. Take a few hours to clean it and re-oil it. Those platforms are about $1k each, and I know if I were looking at your boat and saw a teak platform that had been covered with some plastic crap or other bedliner material, I'd be substracting $1k from the purchase price. Heck, even if you aren't selling the boat, nothing beats teak. It holds up great, it doesn't get hot, and it's pretty easy to refinish.

Nick, I just had it done a few weeks back. Quite a lot of other people on here have done it as well. I have a mat over top of mine.

Plastidip just peels off when you're done... its amazing stuff. I sprayed the badges of my car while they were still on the car, then just peeled off the overspray.

Heat wasn't an issue in the past as my swim platform is usually always in the water or underwater depending on ballast/people in the boat. You can also get Line X in colors...ie color match the boat. My platform is fiberglass anyways so I didn't have issues about recovering it. Others on here have covered their teak ones though.

Yes I did Hate. It's called DECKadence. There are US dealers as well. http://www.boatmats.ca They mostly make mats for larger yachts and not typically for swimplatforms. I'll probably rip out the carpet in my old DD and get this put in. They can laser cut any graphic or pattern you want.

My brother does it once/twice a year with his motorcycle plastics.... just lays down a layer of plastidip then whatever color he wants over top, then the whole thing just peels off when he is ready for a new look.
