JDB, where is that pic taken with the four of you on the boom? I swear that I know the two guys in the middle. If not , then they have exact twins.... shagit007@aol.com

Back deep long line. Nice Mike.
You guys are crazy footing in dry suits.
I took a digger one time during a Florida
winter while wearing a dry suit (It was one
of the coldest days of the year) and I swear
my neck still ain't right. The water feels
like concrete at those temps and speeds. I
guess if you don't fall it doesn't really
matter though!
Anyways, here's what it looks like when a
old school kneeboarder, skier and footer
turned wakeboarder goes back to his roots...

Anyone know where I can get a new or used
suit at a good price?

Old                01-14-2004, 5:00 PM Reply
David D (guru) , call me on the suit new or used.
M (big un) as you can tell from my profile, I and we are from Pittsburgh, PA. If you know the guys in the middle of the pic, then you know me (2nd from the outside) this pic was taken on the monongahela river at approx 68 mile marker.
Oh, yeah David D, And as far as using a drysuit to barefoot in, I love it. Probably the best way to learn a back deep. It glides very easy. That is if you have a bag style dry suit and not a neo one.
And here is another one of me going backwards. . .last summer

me backwards

Cool. I never thought of the advantages to wearing a dry suit while footing.
I'll drop you an e-mail.

Ron Scarpa : 1982 WSM feature for sale

For you Footin' folks: Back in May 1982, Ron Scarpa (Footing's "RAGING BULL") was introduced in Water Ski magazine. Featured on the front cover. This was when Ron had just started, and also had a full head of hair.

22 years later, he's still the reigning King of Footin'.

That original May 1982 Water Ski Magazine is for sale (complete and not dog-eared) on e-Bay. It includes the 6 page spread on Ron, as well as the Lapointe brothers and Camille Duvalle.

Great memorabilia, a gift, or prize at a water sports event.

Available on e-Bay auction until Sun Feb 22.

I've ski'd with Ron Scarpa he's a pritty nice guy. Here are some pics or pic that walt took over the summer at lake pilsbury in Ca.Not sure how many I'll post because I have to make them smaller and it takes time so you know.

I also ski backwards but dislocated my sholder a few years back and havent got over the fear factor so I might ski backwards a couple times a year.

Yep - Your right, I grew up with Bob's kids & he was the man who taught me to ski. (Early days at the Russin River). He did test his skis on occasion there as he rented a house on the property. I was introduce to the Private lake when it was 1st built back in the day when I was into the foot'n seen. Entered a few tourny's there. VERY NICE set-up. Getting to foot there was a treat. I learned my front to back there with Dennis, Bing Seto, & his daughter.

Those were thw days, foot'n during the week up North & then to BI @ lAZY M in Biron on the weekends with Wiliam. Maybe I should return to my feet and get off the board

Jason was showing me how there's still writing on the garage walls from the Maja days.

It's a really cool place with plenty of history.

Are you starting slalom and dropping one? BEcause I tried a deepwater barefoot, and it did not work at all.
Old     (barefootbob)      Join Date: Dec 2005       06-02-2006, 11:33 AM Reply
I've always done the deep.Tell me what your doing?
The 5'rope and handle off the boom is the best way to learn,if behine the boat use a none stretch rope 85 even 90 feet would be good depending on the boat, lay in the water with the rope through the arches of your feet and the handle to your mid section. When the boat takes off with a medium to slow pull arch your back count 2 seconds and "start to sit up"not to fast or your but digs in.The boat driver should watch you and if you bounce slow down a little but if you keep the handle to your hips and keep a slightly reclined possison should work.On the boom ,if you start to swing just keep your possion but body vertacal and momentum will straitin you out.If you know your water line you can "bend you knees!!!!!!"cant strees that enough, get a 3 point possison butt and feet almost to but and about shoulder with apart.Have someone watch you. With all that going on most people try to plant strait legged and they dont even know it.The boat should be between 25 and 30.Once you have a 3 point possison and riding smooth with your handle still in you mid section the driver can start to speed up.As the boat speed increses start to apply pressure to your feet"slowly" as your comming up your handle will start to leave the mid section, dont pull in on the handle arms out.Notice in all those pics arms out knees bent and ski away.Oh keep your toes up.
I think I got it all.I'm sure if I missed somthing someone will add to this.
BEND YOR KNEES barefoot speed is weight divided by 10 add 20.
If your seeing more stars then sky take a break.
Did I say bend your knees
