Pulled the boat out today after a good slumber. Starting installing the HSE and have a couple of questions: 1) On the alternator signal generator - on the 12v supply can I go right to the battery? If I do will it continue to draw power when the Perko switch is off? 2) Is a 1amp fuse enough for the 12v line? 3) Where's a good place to ground to? I assume I can't ground to the alternator ground bolt?

On my boat there is a "grounding block"... most marine applications have something like this under the helm area. You will see a bunch of smaller gauge black wires going to it and another larger gauge black wire going off to the engine ground. I would reccomend something like that instead of running the extra wire.

Same thing for the 12v supply, most boats have the "stereo" switch that powers up the stereo (and/or amps, eq... etc.) I have mine set up so i turn that knob and the amps, eq, hse... all gets powered up when I turn the switch. regardless of if the boat is running or not.

Hope this helps

a good question Tom, I am wiring mine now too. When running the lead to the signal generator, I noticed my ballast fitting on the top of the hard tank is broken, so it's coming out too. Dont really want to run another lead up to the helm again to power the signal generator, but probably gonna have to
