Saw an Epic tonight when we were coming back from dinner, and so we stopped and checked it out. Grey/charcol colored. Wasn't able to look it over real close as it was late and both of us had to get going. I will say I liked the looks of the boat much more in real life, and was super impressed with the apparent quality. When I'm in the market for a wakeboard boat again, they are high on my list. Thanks alot, Adam!

i think the big question will be service issues

Thanks RC...That boat turned out great and will be a great boat for someone once we get done shooting some video with it for the next couple of weeks. Jonny...I think our service will be great on these boats as I have spent a lot of time making them very user friendly and maintainable and when they do need some "professional help" they are built very open and easy to get at "stuff". We are using the Volvo 8.1l engines in all these as well. I think most know how great Volvo has done with their customer service reputation in the I/O market, now it is their turn to impress the Inboard market :-) And it is just cool to hear that people are seeing our boats and liking what they see. It has been a long road and we aren't really cranking out boats yet, but we are only a few weeks away now from really pulling the trigger on our ACTUAL production boats. There are a lot of changes (most from rider suggestions) that serve to make the 23v that much better than the pre-production boats people are reporting on now. And I think I will probably just crap myself the first time I am on the highway and see some random Epic owner with one of my creations on the back of their truck I should probably keep some kind of Epic Prize in my truck for just that occasion, huh?

Cool Stuff:

4,000lbs 3-Tank Ballast System (with Shape Plate) - Epic is the first to put a ballast system in their boats that actually weighs more than the total weight of their dry boat. This huge ballast gives you the ability to fill up for pro level wakes or run dry for beginner or intermediate riders. You also have the ability to stack one side with ballast for some amazing wake surf. This system works in conjunction with a shape plate that lets you rapidly tweak wake shape while a ride is up and running for infinite adjustability.

"Drop Zone" Wake Enhancing Hull Technology - Besides a HUGE ballast system, every Epic rides on a hull specifically designed for wake sports. Like an airplane wing lifts an aircraft our hull actually drags the boat down into the water and thus displaces more water for a superior wake in both size and shape. This hull provides riders with great wakes through greater displacement and also aids in tracking and handling to give the driver a greater feel of control over the boat for a superior experience for both the rider and driver.

8 Speaker Transom Audio - Epic Boats is the first to offer audio built directly into the transom of their boats. The benefits over traditional tower speakers are loud and clear: these speakers are closer to the rider - they are not as affected by the wind when boat is in motion - more sound is deflected off the water and back to the rider - and most importantly, people in the boat can now talk to each other while the rider enjoys crystal clear, super loud audio while they enjoy a truly Epic ride.

Dual Rudder "Vector Steer System" - This revolutionary and patent pending rudder system fully utilizes prop thrust while traditional rudder systems only utilize half a boat propulsion for handling. These rudders actually vectorize our boats prop thrust much like a Jet Plane vectorizes its jet thrust for maximum maneuverability. With the full utilization of thrust this rudder system gives our boats amazing handling that just has to be seen and felt to believe.

Resin Infused All Composite Construction - This method of fiberglass construction is the same technology that Burt Rutan's Team used in the construction of Space Ship one and their impending Space Vehicles. It gives the boat many times more strength than traditionally constructed boats and more importantly dramatically reduces the overall weight of the boat. Our boats, with an 8.1L engine, weigh only 3000lbs. Compared to other boats in the same size and fitting range weighing in at 4500lbs+. This means a much more nimble boat in the water and big savings at the pump when towing our boats; you can even comfortable tow our boats with a V6 equipped vehicle.

Since I saw the boat on the trailer, I can't really say much for wake or performance of that kind of stuff which most people really care about. However, there were a couple details that stuck out in mind which I thought of after my first post. First of all, the tower was killer! It was a nice flashy setup with a sweet looking mirror arm and racks. Also, the cover (this is gonna sound weird) really impressed me. Most covers I see are ok for hauling but after awhile would start to work loose and beat themselves up. This one was super tight and appeared to be very strong. Even the people I was with that night commented afterwards about what a nice cover it was. Small things, yes, but when you are paying this kind of bank for a boat, I suppose the details are important.

Matt, if you've been out behind one for a week, I sure hope you snapped some pics.

Chris, do you have any handle yet on what the back order time is for a boat? If someone had the cash tomorrow, how long til they get to try out their own personal set of 8 transom speakers?
