our marina is pretty small so having a longer boat we try to pull our boat into the slip as much as possible so no one hits our platform. When we pull it in closer if waves hit or the dock moves it has scratched our bow so does anyone have any ideas on how to put make a cover for the bow that will go down like a foot or so to prevent this. we switch slips sometimes so putting something on the dock would be a pain to move each time.

Not excatly what you want, buy here's my .02. try backing into the slip if its cool with the marina.
No one is going to get too clost to the bow, it will be far more visible.

do you have "spring lines"
(line from the back of the dock to the front of the boat, to keep the boat from moving forward)

Mike above has the solution. Use a quick disconnect since the length never changes. Often called bang lines too.
