Video Camera Housing

Hello everyone. I have been looking for an underwater video camera housing that I found a few years ago and a friend of mine had. I have looked through the threads here on WW but haven't found what I am looking for. I was hoping someone on here could help. Here is a description of the housing:
The housing is made of clear acrylic, with one end opening to put the camera in. The shape is a cylinder about 10 inchs in diameter and about 1.5 ft long. There is a mounting platform that you screw the camera onto that slides into the housing. I do not recall any outside buttons that control the camera and I think it is under $200. Any suggestions on who makes it and where I can find it? There is a similar one on e-bay currently but may have a leak. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

$200?? Try $2,000 or more for an underwater housing. There are plastic bag type cases that are in the couple hundreds, but they are meant for the surface.

The most cost effective camera case may very well be made by the camera manufacturer, and often found on ebay for a good deal.

Edit: Ikelite is the clear housing manufacturer. Check ebay for used, then go through it. If it is an expensive camera and you plan to submerge it, than insure it for flooding.

You are definitely thinking of the www.epiccam.com housing.($200-$400 and not a plastic bag) Great housing for the price. No control but I have found that you can wrap your remote in a waterproof bag and attach it to the housing and you will have full control of your camera features.

Speaking of epic housings, would rain-x work to keep the water off of the front of it? I've been having a problem with filming from the water because of that, and was thinking of putting that stuff on it to prevent this.

spit works the best let it dry then when your in the water spit on it again then rub it under water to clean it then re apply when needed it works the best no B.S.

I love watching water footage with people when the inevitable shot of me frenching the camera pops up. awkward every time

and $2000? if you're paying $2000 you're paying too much. SPL for the win, IMO Gates are way too heavy for action work.

edit: HCW and Professional Support Systems are also good action housings

He said "underwater housing"...that means expensive. The underwater housing for my DSLR is $4,500.

I just naturally assumed his intended use is wakeboarding or some other type of related activity.
