ok, so i am not sure if the cruise control is screwed up on our boat, but when i ride off my friends boat, which is a 07 vlx it always seems like i am riding slower(right under 24 or right at). on the 07 vlx we ride 1250 stock ballast w/a 750 in the middle of the boat and wedge a couple clicks up from all the way down for a lil lip. whenever i am up at my lakehouse up north, it seems like i have to ride closer to 25 or right under off the 2008 vlx w/pretty much same setup as far as weight. one thing i will add this the water is a little deeper up at my lakehouse. when i ride my friends 07 vlx it is on the lower fox river, which is extremely shallow. our lake up north is 3 or 4 ft deeper in most areas, not that much. i know depth reflects in wake size, but i am trying to figure out the speed issue? IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS I WOULD APPRECIATE INPUT

Are they both calibrated with GPS? Who cares about the speed number...just ride what speed feels comfortable to you behind both boats.

4 sure man. it is lame behind the 08 tho b/c supposedly the u r not supposed to go above 25 w/ the power wedge. it just seems like the speed is all over the place sometimes on our 08. what happens when i want to go out to a full 80' line?

i thought gps only relates to the zero off nautique cruise. perfect pass is different, right?

We're talking Mailbu Speed Control, not PP and Eubanks is talking about CALIBRATING with GPS, not that the Malibu Speed Control uses GPS. Although I heard in 2010 it will be GPS controlled.

I calibrated my 08 VLX with a GPS application on my phone. It was only .2 mph off from factory. We weight our boat very similar to what you have described and use about 3/4 power wedge. I ride at 75ft at 23.8 mph, my roommate rides 80ft at 24.6 mph. Lake depth will have no effect on line length and speed, just wake size. Sounds like your friend needs to adjust his speedo. You can access it from the settings portion of the Malibu dash computer. Its easy to adjust.

I ride at 75' 9 and 3/4" with a speed of 22.4563421 and sometimes I ride at 22.563278 but behind my buddies boat it feels like 22.667234 and it really screws me up unless I move the wedge to 6.2 - 385 - 9er degrees. Sorry but you guys crack me up! LOL!

Definately chekc the Malibu Cruise w/ GPS to verify that the speed is correct. Mine was off 2mph IIRC.

You need to calibrate your Malibu Cruise with a hand held gps, iphone, blackberry, etc. I've had to to it to every new boat regardless of manufacturer.

I was on a 2005 wakesetter and was at 80 and 24.5 atleast that is what the PP said. 75 was to short, just get back there and start at 22-23 and go from there. You might like to ride a little fatser that your friends or who ever you ride with. The speedo is wrong more often than it's right just set you speed buy how it feels..... I liked 80 wake was to narrow at 75
