Just got a steal on a boat $24,000 with 160hrs Centurion 03 elite v drive. Just want some suggestions on how much ballast i should put in it. Looking to 60% wakeboard,40% wakesurfing. I already bought three jabsco impeller pumps just wondering how much weight i need?

I would go with the Fly High 450's back there next to the engine. That particular model doesn't need much more than that, nor can it handle that much more. The Centurions have a deeper V than most other comp boats so they don't need as much weight to get the wakes kickin Do you have a Center tank? IF not probablt going to need about 400-500 in the nose if not

I have an 04 Lightning, same hull. My boats for sale, I hope I do better than the guy you bought from. You can get a really good wake. The key thing is lots of list. If you can't stand up in the boat it's about right. I run a lot of ballast - too much, over 2,000 pounds. The Mighty Centurion These riders are fairly far back off the transom, about 20 feet. a 750 in the back locker, one on the bench, 270 in the bow and center tank full. Rub rail in the water and Centurion lettering.

Stock triple ballast is about perfect for wakeboarding. More weight isn't worth the effort when setting up for wakeboard. The wake is nice and peaky I love it. I did find that I needed a little weight in the bow for wakeboarding with tripple tanks.

ed i did get a great buy he sold it to me for his payoff, its worth 30,000 i know. He was just in a money bind. So your saying i need 1500lbs on that one side to surf. i saw some 800lb bags on wakeside i was thinking of those for the rear lockers and one of those c shaped bags for the bow. and it doesn't have a center tank that i know of. i will check tomorrow.

to surf i run a 750 in the v drive locker a 450 in place of the side bench and a half full integrated bow sack. i loose the side sack when i have a bunch of people in the boat. when boarding i'd have to say the triple ballast is a joke, 20gals a piece is about 175lbs even with three its not enough. I fill both 750s in back the bow sack is another 750 (i doubt it fill completly since the space up front is limited and then the 450 in the walk through. the wake is clean and mean. I ride at 27mph so more weight is needed at that speed then say 22. (Message edited by masonwakerider on February 03, 2008)

You can surf with stock tanks, but you'll need a big board and the wake won't be clean like the pics above. I have a friend with an Avalanche. He also runs with close to 2,000 pounds. I hear the Enzo only takes 1,300. That's what I'd like to replace my boat with. My pay off is only 18 but I'm not selling her for that. I'd say you got a smoking deal. Have fun! WA love, I can't get my Lightning on plane with both 750 full, the center full and 270 in the bow. I totally disagree. Stock triple is a nice wake. The Centurion V-hull just doesn't need the weight that a flat bottom boat does. However I ride at 22 to 22.5. At 70 the boat is going to plane out, still I don't see how you get on plane with that much weight.

I have an 06 elite V different hull though and I run darkside. I run a 750 in the locker, 500 in the bow, a 150 brink behind the driver, and depending on how many people are in the boat a 750 on the bench behind the driver. I have not boarded much with mine. But when I have i have loaded the 750's in the lockers filled the center and run 250 under each bow cushin.

Like you ed i started small and just keep adding more weight each year and the wake keeps getting better. I probaly have close to 1000# in the bow which is needed to get on plane and keep the wake clean, i have no trim tab though so i use bow weight to keep the bow down. The shape is nice with any weight but with only 600lbs its rather small expecialy at 27 mph. I dont think curts boat even has the stock tanks, since he's bought 3 jabso's. back to helping curt out, i went with 3 jabso pumps also, one pump plumbed to each bag. I then put a y valve on one of the rear pumps with a lenght of loose hose running off it. This is so i can flip the valve and fill or empty the extra sac where ever i put it in the boat. A couple words of advise about the jabsco's. Take the cover's off to see if yours have the silcon impellers, should be blue or yellow not black, the black ones stick and dont change direction. You can now buy replacements directly from jabsco or a mastercraft dealer. When running the pumps make sure the boat is on, running three pumps at once is a good size electrical draw, i put my boat into neutral and rev the engine enough that volt gage reads 14v. The pumps even run a bit faster. When installing the pumps use a 1" hose that is reinforced so that when the pumps are sucking the hose wont collapse, the pumps are made so that a 1" hose can slide right onto the ports with out using a fitting that restricks flow. Its a good boat, you will have a lot of fun. my profile pick is pretty good of the wake for boarding (Message edited by masonwakerider on February 04, 2008)

Does a 750 sac fit in the back locker? My measurements had the locker being a bit small on my Avalanche. Or is it not fully filled or is the locker popped open?

I would have to agree with ED on this one that there is no way that hull would take 750's in the rear and have a decent wakeboard wake at normal speeds. WA your riding speed is way higher than most out there. In the 20-24mph range that hull will produce the best wake with 300-400 at most on each side of the engine. The stock center tank and 300-350 in the nose. I have owned that hull and also sold a ton of them. 400-450 is the max in the rear end for sure. Especially with people in the cockpit. The stock factory wake is a great wake on that boat. Would say a lower end intermediate wake, but it is very very steep so can be a bit intimidating to some. Most people we setup chose to run the old V-Drive 350lb sacs back there. We used to plumb them into the factory sytem for them. WAs a bit tricky with the old water bed fittings in there. If I were going to start from scratch with zero ballast sytem in there, and was going to surf as much as you I would go with the Fly High 750's in the rear compartments. The only downside is that for wakeboarding you will have to monitor the fil and won't get the same exact weight in there everytime. Something I would find annoying but maybe you wouldn't. I ride 80-90% of the time and am now just starting to get into surfing myself. If you do find that would annoy you I would go with the Fly High 450's back there. Then you could fill them up all the way for boarding as well and just use people or something else like and extra sac back there if you even needed it. A 350lb sac fits perfect in the bow and acts like a filler cushion. If you want to have that hidden get the Fly High integrated bow sac for the nose. Still about the same weight as the 350, but would be hidden. You may even find since you don't have the stock center tank you need both in the bow if you run those 450's. Again I dont doubt WAloves setup. At 27mph your going to need an @#$load of weight to get it kickin. But for 90% of us who ride between 20-24mph the 450's are the max back there on that hull and the factory ballast is plenty for a newbie and enough for an intermediate if you ask me. I can throw any of my tricks behind that boat's wake with the stock config and have a great time and never feel let down. Believe me I have done it alot on peopel demoing the boat. It was a top seller (I have 5 inverts, not saying I am good, I calssify myslef just above an intermediate to an advanced intermediate, but just giving some background) (Message edited by xstarrider on February 07, 2008)

You have to remove the stock hard tank. A 750 in the locker of an '04 Lightning A little more on the bench
