How is the qualifier working this year? Are you required to just complete to be eligible, do you have to place to be eligible or is it invite only?

Centurion Boats announces the World Series of Wake Surfing for 2012. The establishment of this competitive series gives riders an opportunity to compete and qualify for the premier wake surfing event in the world. Four events crossing the nation will lead up to the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship scheduled for September in Parker, Arizona.

Competitors will need to compete at one of the World Series events to be considered for riding at the World Championship. The most significant and highest caliber wake surfing events have been selected to make up the World Series. More information on each event will be available on Centurion and World Wake Surfing Championship websites in the near future.

I think Centurion is going about this the wrong way. If the goal is to sell boats and increase the sport then leave it open to every one who pays the entry fee to compete. If you are going to make it a requirement for anyone who wants to compete to get to one of 4 events you have just lost half of the people who may have wanted to compete no matter how large the prize money is at the qualifier events.

If How come the grass roots events are not considered as a qualifier?

I think Worlds was full last year, I don't they can handle more then what came last year. I hear ya, it makes it tough to attend one of these if you are miles away.
