So Long story short some friend and I were out late on Saturday. I had a few too many ( I had set it up for my friend to drive so I could drink for once, he didn't stay sober!!) and wanted to chill before driving back to the dock from Humbug Cove. So my buddy takes my surf board (no life jacket) and swims to the shore about 20 yrds away..
It's starts to get a little breezy so he starts to swim back (mind you I'm just hanging with a couple other friends in the boat) I usually keep a pretty good eye on everyone but hey we are all around 30 and I had been drinking. I really didn't want to babysit today. Anyhow he get swept away somehow and can't make it back to the boat and we don't notice for about 20 min. It's pitch black and I can't find him, we search for about an hour before I freak out and call the cops. At this point I don't care about the BUI I'm worried about my friend. the Cops bring ot 1 boat for about 30min and a chopper to make one pass down the shore line, and that's all they are willing to do. So about 1am I go home thinking that a good friend of mine is dead. Worse night of my life!!! Fast forward to 6am I'm getting the boat ready to go out and look for him myself, and he pulls up in a cab to my house. he got taken about half mile down the cove and slept on shore all night and a fisherman found him in the morning. BTW he drank lake water to survive, YUCK!
However he didn't come home with my surf board, (I know a small price to pay for getting him back) but if anyone picked up a board please let me know.
