handle position - hands together or apart?

This subject came up while we were on the water this weekend. Does anyone know if there is an advantage to having your hands together rather than apart while holding the handle? It was pointed out that some of the pros ride with their hands together. Why is this?

I guess they feel they can grab it easier when passing. There's probably some leverage/balance reason for holding the handle in the middle versus on one end also, but mainly for passing.

Actually having your hand as far out as possible is the best position for a handle pass-

yea it gives you more handle to grab

Bringing your hands together forces you to bend at the elbows and bring the handle closer to the body. It feels werid at first but I love it now and felt it increased my pop. Your best bet is to try it and see if it works for you.

yeh the whole point to having the 15in. handle rather than the 12in. or less that slalom skiers use, is to aid in handle passes. However, while just doing simple wake2wake stuff or anything that doesnt have a handle pass in it, its much easier and natural to have your hands closer together.
