I'm going to do some gel coat work on my boat and will need to replace the decals. I have a '90 Sport Nautique. Does anyone know if I can get the same decals anywhere? I have family that works at a sign company so if anyone has the artwork I could just have them made. I'd maybe even just go w/ new graphics of an AIR Nauty or something? I think I saw on here that the dealers should have a disk w/ all the artwork for the new decals for at least this year's models? Can anyone help me out here? thx!

Levi,

I have a 92 Sport Nautique that I just purchased. The decals are starting to peel off. I talked to MidWest Correct Craft (Midwest distributor) and they still had my decals I could order. Here is the phone number .... (260) 833-2226. and an email address .... nautique@gte.net . They should be able to hook you up. I think they were $125 per side. Also here is there website http://www.nautique.com/ Hope that helps. Any pics of your boat? I just got mine a few months ago. Taking it on the camp trip this weekend. Should have some pics then.

Thanks for the info Rod!! Does the $125 cover boat decals on the side or just the "Sport Nautique"? I have to see what the sign shop can do and I'd probably get them for a lot cheeper..but we'll see(I worked there myself for 7 years)? I'm hitting the water tomorrow after work so it should be a good summer! Here are a couple pics:

Good looking boat man! I think the 125 is just the Sport Nautique. Im sure if you have the sign shop hook up that will be cheaper. I did see somebody on here that had a early 90's Nautique that totally redid it, regel coat, interior, put a tower on it, and put the Air Nautique graphic on it and it was sweet!

Like I said earlier, my decals are peeling off, pretty much look like sheite. I have been debating on ripping them off and just leaving it blank, or maybe putting the air decal on. I haven't priced the air decal yet. I think the blank would be pretty cool if I can get all the residue off (any suggestions on that?). But I really like the Air symbol too.

Any chance your sign shop hookup could maybe hook me up with the air sign? or the Sport sign? If they would be interested let me know how much.

Yeah...that other sport is actually someone that is from the Boise area. I'll be checking it out when he gets it back into town next month.

As for getting the glue residue off. If you can use a heat gun when you take the decals off...it will be a lot easier and most of the glue w/ come w/ the sticker hopefully. For what's left..the best thing I've ever used is an adhesive remover from 3M. It comes in a white can w/ red lettering and you just wet the area and rag and wait a couple seconds and the adhesive will turn jelly like and wipe off. You can get it at auto parts places that also sell auto paint supplies....like auto body stuff. I also ran across a stuff called "Oops" I think at WalMart. I have a suspicion that it may be the same stuff just packaged for the general public????

I'll see about the decals...if I go ahead and have them made I'll find out how much and let you know. I may see if I can get them to make the latest AIR graphics too? I'm not sure if I'd want to go original or go w/ the new style? Well.....I'll keep ya in the loop.........

This is our 1997 sport with air decals. We were also not sure if we should go air or stay original. But afterwards are glad we did it.

Levi, we had the correct craft dealer in the Boise area do ours. I'm not sure what it was called, but I'm sure they could hook you up with whatever you wanted.

Tommy, nice looking rig man! I like that air sign. What kind of tower is that? I am lokoing at putting one on my 92 sport, but can't decide what to get. I have been looking at a Monster, and the Boss Knight.

Levi, did you try your local Correct Craft dealer?

I bought new decals for my 3 year old boat, they had them in stock. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the decals you need were available from the factory.

I have an 89 and Midwest CC had all of the decals, even the little ones. Talk to Bruce or Jeff for anything Correct Craft.

I did speak w/ the dealer but I was first hoping to get a disk w/ their artwork. The person I spoke to didn't really know anything about it. Then I called back to price out the originals and spoke w/ the owner and they can get any decal you want. To redecal w/ the original it is only going to be around $10 cheaper than going w/ the new AIR decal. But I'm still hoping I can just get some made for a lot less.......

Oh, and Bryce...it's Gilbert Lake Marine. He had good things to say about your boat. He's a really nice guy.......

Levi,
The guy that sold me my boat removed the decals from the sides. It left faded areas that you could clearly see where the decals were. I put in a couple of hours trying to buff it out. I had to resort to paying the $125 a side for new decals from CC. Hopefully, if you are going with different decals you can have the pros that are doing your gel coat work clean up the sides where your decals are now.

Rod....I only wish I had some 'pros" doing my gel coat work.....I'm doing it solo so I hope I do it well. I'm just sanding and then buffing so it shouldn't be too hard.

As for my "help"...I just have Larry and Moe (looking at my biceps). And once you've met Larry...YOU AIN'T GONNA WANT NO MOE!!! :-)

Levi,
Keep us posted on the progress. I'd like to work on the fading on my boat, just a bit weary of wet sanding. I'm still laughing about Larry and Moe. Good Luck.

Rod...sure will. I did a bit of sanding again yesterday and it will go faster that way I think...but as I started I thought..I should at least find out how much a fiberglass shop would charge so I don't waste my free time maintaining it and not using it. If it's not too spending I think that'll be my choice, but if it's too steep...back to sanding!
