At some point, obsession becomes madness. Mostly likely in December! The day started pretty nice, calm, air was around 60, water around 55. Then it got windy!

Shouldn't you guys be out in your new 226? I'm confident it would handle that chop like butta!

@Greg Just a 3-2 wetsuit. It was pleasant in the water. Not sure about Jeff. He was out there with his hands out of the water and trying to swim. Pretty funny. I was going to trunk it at the end but by the time I had my wetsuit off Jeff was draining the sacs.

I don't get it. If you live in CA, why don't you go to the ocean and surf instead of behind a boat on a small wave?

Our lake is now ALMOST up to normal with all the rain! So good to see. Also, FREEZING cold, although not cold enough to make Dennis suit up!

I think the rule is over 90 you ride in trunks. 42 air and 49 water equals 91 therefore trunks.

Surfdad, that board looks like the Inland Surfer version of the Flyboy. How does it ride? Same feel and light weight as the original? Are the fins the same? Is the kick pad on the new deck pad far enough back for a wide stance?

Hey dreamer,

It was a pretty good first effort from Cobra. They pioneered the composite sandwich construction in windsurf boards back in the day, so they'll get this board down to spec's. The prototype was a bit heavy, but the Inland Folks tell me that all pre-productions come in about a pound over what production winds up at. The spec is for 5 pounds with fins and traction which will be very light.

James did ask them to slide the pad back and then extend it in the middle about 4 inches, so HOPEFULLY that will take care of that stance issue. Basically make the pad 4 inches longer and put it as far back as possible.

The fins are exact duplicates and they had a really stiff snappy feel, the placement needs a milimeter or two adjustment and then they'll be exact.

We're looking forward to the final prototype.

I want a new board for this season and Inland Surfer tells me that the Flyboy will be available this spring. Keep us posted on when you are riding the final prototype and how it compares to the original.
Thanks,
John
