Taking a poll on what you are paying for your boat insurance. I was quoted $850/yr from USAA. Seems high. But it included a $1Mil liability umbrella. Appreciate you all throwing your hat in on the discussion.

600 something for my v215, through Westmar, with a $1mil umbrella. Westmar is in Stockton, and has a great reputation from everyone I've talked to.

305.00 per year with 600K max liability for full coverage at boatus (www.boatus.org), but this is not the "agreed value" policy, i guess if the boat is totaled they go by the blue book. I have taken and passed a USCG approved test/certification that gives me about 15 % off. Plus i have to pay about 15.00 per year for the boatus membership.
This is on a 2002 V-drive wake boat.

Darn! i thought i was paying way too much, i will count my blessings for just over 300/year. Another interesting thing, the rates have gone up about 18% per year for me, we started at 228/year and i have placed 0 (zero) claims on this policy.

Thanks for all the responses to my insurance poll. I just got off the phone with USAA. They also write policies with Progressive and they quoted me around $700/yr It includes full replacement value and 500,000 liability with a $1 Mil umbrella. By the way, the boat is in CA and will be used up at Big Bear most of the summer. CA ins. rates are harsh compared to other states.

Diggs-Read the 'boat is totaled' thread.

I have mine through Allstate with whom I also have my auto's, life, homeowners, etc, etc. I think it's like $350/year boat and trailer with full replacement, no deductible submersed object repair/replacement, with the rest being consistent with everyone else. They've been good to me so far.

Go westmar they have a very good plan and are fairly priced. Beyond the sheer "#'s" you actually get a rapid response and great follow up on claims from them as well. Overall they get a sold A from me.

I read the article here on wakeworld and did not go thru Allstate who has my home/auto. After the problems that I just went thru I checked with Allstate and if I had my boat insurance with them it's a seperate policy and a claim on the boat would not affect my home.

If any of you have policy's with SkiSafe, BoatUS, Boaters Insurance, and others like that check and see who actually wrote your policy. We had to deal with one called ACE. I'd recommend finding a local person that you can sit and talk with if you ever have a problem like I did.

Diggs, here's the link http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/216773.html

Thanks again for all the posts to my insurance poll. Wakeworld has a boat Insurance article which someone alerted me to. It's written by Rick Herscowitz's, a fellow wakeboarder. The article was helpful in understanding the various coverages, limits and exclusions. If you are shopping Ins. I recommend reading the article, here's the link: http://www.wakeworld.com/articles/2004/insurance.asp.

Go big, but be safe.

I have state farm for 320/year, but also have home and car on my account. The boat policy is seperate so it doesn't affect the other policies, I just get a multiple policy discount. Ony my boat it covers full replacement of boat, trailer, and all equipment in side, ski, wakeboard and stereo equipment.
