in the rear lockers it says do not go over 75 pounds in here not made for ballast. is that so u wont go over the weight limit or is it cause the tank will break

We put a 750 in back there for surfing just fill the hard tank first.

Some guys totaly remove the hard tanks but we day camp and need the room. when we have a lite crew we add 2 - 450 sacs in the trunks.

Do you have the full 4 tank MLS?

my buddy has been running the 750 fly high pro x on top of his vlx for 2 seasons now without any problems. We always have the stock tanks full though not sure how it would be if they were left empty.

As long as the rear tanks are full of water, you don't have anything to worry about there. Just fill the factory ballast and then fill whatever sacs you're going to put in the rear comparments.

We use stock plus 440lbs on each side of the engine, 700lb on the floor, and 2 250 sacs in the bow.

Why does it matter if the tanks are full??? Since it is an open system, the water is not providing any support.

Its not the tanks their worried about crushing, its the floor. The floor in the storage areas and walk thru are not the same as the floor in the rest of the boat. Bu's are not a one piece tub inside but several pieces screwed together, and they use cheaper material for the storage areas. Thats the reason for the warning stickers in the rear lockers.

not unless they changed the floor in 05 when they went to the "underground tanks" which I doubt. The reason for the stickers is that the tanks will crush when empty.

I've seen malibus with 500 pounds of lead on each side of the engine on the floor 04 back and not even a dent in the floor.
