Ballast System Controls

Other than the obvious location at the driver's seat, ever thought of locating the fill/empty switches elsewhere?

Last summer I water tested a 2005 Svfara SV696... its basically a copy of the Malibu 23xti w/ illusion tower.

It is a direct drive and had a bunch of switches on the motor box... I was expecting them to be ballast control so the spotter could operate ballast to even out the wake, etc. But they ended up being for something else.

So an answer to your question?

On a direct drive... why not put them on the motor box; however, if you pull without a spotter... that would be a bad place to put them.

I would just leave them up at the drivers seat myself.

So what were the switches for? Yeah, I'm still thinking the helm is the right location but I just wanted to see if there's any other locations folks had wished theirs were...at this point I've cut no holes...

I had pumps and switched under the back seat of my old direct drive to fill the sacks. It was a pain and I moved them to the dash after one summer.

I saw a Svfara at the vancouver boat show last year with switches on the motor box.

In many cases I have a spotter who is not knowledgable enough to tweak the ballast so I do not think access for the spotter is prefered. I think those switches are best left at the helm.

If memory serves... the switches were for the heater and lights and stuff... kinda weird.

I think Svfara just ran out of room on the dash for more stuff.

I would leave the ballast controls up with the driver.

I am locating my ballast switches under the back seat since the fill/empty process will need to be monitored because I have no vents to indicate full/empty.

Under the back seat, the wiring is easy since my pumps are right there too.

I didnt want to cut into my dash so I mounted them at bottom of drivers seat.There was a plastic plate that was covering a speaker hole.Worked out perfect.Little dirty down there.
