After taking the advice of people on the boards, u got my dad to put to trim up on out 1987 four winns horizon 170, the wake really cleaned up, but the boat was giving me this jerky feel, like it would pull then give, pull then give etc. What do I do????

trim back down slightly. may have been a shade too high.

Trim it down a bit. If there's too much trim up, you'll hose the drive. IIRC, the spline shaft can't take it.

Of course, from the description, it's hard to tell. Do you have a trim gauge? Where is it reading?

if i remember correctly i trimmed mine to the first mark which i believe was 1/4 of the way up the guage on our four winns 190.

That's about where I keep the Searay's trim for foiling/boarding. Just above the 1/4 mark.

Your "bucking" sounds like what is normally called porpoising, where the bow repeatedly lifts and then falls. This would really suck on a wakeboard boat as the height of the tower would amplify the effect to the rider.

In general, the porpoising can be eliminated by changing speed, moving weight around (generally ore weight forward) or adjusting engine trim and/or trim tabs.

If you have ballast in your boat, try moving some of it foward and see if that helps.

Unfourntanly my dad does not want me adding weight to our boat due to our low weight limit. But we usally have 3 other people besides my dad in the boat, so ill have them move up front.

If lowering does not work a lower pitch prop might be in order.
