Hello,

Does anyone know of lakes in washington for wakeboarding where you can get a house on the water for $500k or less? Ideally it would be within 2 hours of Seattle, but may be willing to travel farther. Any ideas woudl be appreciated. Thanks!

Does it have to be nice, I know the perfect place.. I don't live there and it has been vacant for the last year.

Well, well, well... Look who's sniffing around again.

Mike,

I've been looking in Eastern Wa. for a little over a year. On the water, you'll be as far away as Omak. If you're on the west side of the state you'll have to head southeast of Olympia.

Another place to look is the Willamette River in Oregon. The prices are downright cheap compared to our state.

I've yet to find a lake large enough to board yet cheap enough to purchase as a second residence in Washington.

Good luck with your search.

The Willamette near Willsonville is a great stretch of water! It averages at least 20ft deep and is slower moving (comparatively.) In the morning you can find glass nearly everyday, and if you have a drysuit the water is all yours from about October to April. There are some VERY nice homes and some not so nice homes. What I have noticed is that the in a lot of places the property down to the water is very steep, and sturdy set of stairs/deck is a must have.

Man, wish I had the 500,000 or less to look at another house! Mine isn't lake front, but only 5 minutes from the river! Suppose that's about as close as I'm going to get for a while. Unless someone on the west side can hook me up with Microsoft! :-)

BTW, Moses Lake is a place you might look. I'm sure you can find something in that price range around there.

Cliff, I don't think this is the same Mike Porter you're thinking about.

Isn't inexpensive lake house and oxymoron.

Mike, Cliff, Hahn - what's up boys. It actually is me. I couldn't remember my original login, so had to set up a new account.

Mike/Cliff, are you interested in boarding on Friday?

Check out Mason Lake 1.5 hrs from Seattle, good water, big lake, and depending on size of lot and condition of the house i bet you could find something for $500k. You get to watch Brent Starr and Dave Issacson ride too. We bought ours for $30k but that was in 1970

Cliff,

I'd like to take out my boat. I'd like to work in the morning and get out by noon. Is there any way you can swing that or are you strictly a morning guy?

You either go in with a few people around here to get a cheap (relatively speaking) lot on Sammamish, or go south, north, or east. Mason is a popular spot down by the Canal, or you have to go salt down there. Moses is definitely doable for that price. Entiat would be absolutely perfect and I KNOW you can get a nice spot for under $500k there if you have some good contacts helping you out. Hahn, you know who I am talking about.

If it were me, I would go Entiat all the way, or somewhere east for the weather. I would also partner up with someone to split the costs since there is no way you can use it that much by yourself.

You're right. I wouldn't call what I do on the water wakeboarding. More like wake crashing!

Entiat is very nice! The prices have been moving up on all Columbia river homes and property for the past few years.
I have been watching waterfront home sales in North Snohomish County (Lake Stevens and Lake Goodwin) for about three years.
The prices are going up every year. Lake Goodwin is a great lake, but I'm kinda biased and very lucky to have purchased in 2004.
It is smaller than Lake Stevens, but cleaner (springfed) and usually not as crowded.
Last year, two friends picked up waterfront homes on Lake Goodwin.
$650,000 .91 acre, 40ft of waterfront, faces east (sunsets), two older cabins, garage.
$690,000 .75 acre, 100ft of waterfront, faces southeast, older home, no garage.
Both guys plan to tear down the existing structures and rebuild new custom homes.
So basically, they bought the dirt for over $600K! Must be nice eh?
It will be tough to find something nice for $500K on the west side of the mountains, but ya never know.

Brent and Porter coming out of the woodwork? I'm suspicious they might be some sort of Sammamish based terrorist cell. Now if Teak shows up, I'll know something is going down.

Porter,

call me when you get a chance.

Brent,

Last time we saw you, you were sneaking into a bass boat.

Hahn,

We'll still see you Saturday? The water is up to 75 degrees, so I think you'll be ok in a dry suit.

I will be at the Sammamish boat launch rain or shine on Saturday morning August 11th. What time? Oh and no camera!

Hahn - I'd be there for you, but I'm on Whidbey Island that weekend. Any other times?

Cliff, 75 is pretty cold man. Lake Bartlett is 90 degrees now!

Porter,

That's the only weekend I'll be there. Sorry I missed you man!

Just saw this...

We'll be at the launch at 5;30am waiting for the gates to open. I figure if we get done with you early, we'll drag you over to The Twelfth Street Cafe for breakfast.

Porter,

Looks like I'm out for Friday. I forgot that I had promised to take my son out Friday. He's dying to get out again after his first attempt a couple of weeks ago.
