I'm looking at buying a 94 Ski Nautique and I'm wondering if anyone has ridden behind one of these. I've seen a lot of discussions about the super sport and sport nautiques but this one's potentially going to be a really good deal. I know they were make for slalom skiing but a buddy of mine has a MC Prostar 190 that kicks a pretty good wake when weighted down (of course there's nowhere to move with the sacks all filled up, but whatever).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent in SEA

They are a three event boat. I had an open bow version of the same boat. The wake was plenty big with alot of weight, and it handled the weight well. I put a Fat Seat in the back with a 3/4 filled sac on top of the seat, then a full sac in the bow. With a few people in the boat and a full tank of gas it was a nice wake. Perfect Pass will be a requirement with a setup like that though.

definitely need perfect pass. I rode behind a '94 Ski Nautique Open-bow weighted pretty crazy, and the wake was awesome. I don't know what how the weight was set-up but there was a lot of weight, and the wake was awesome.

Thats the same boat I am used to riding behind almost everyday. My friend has a closed bow and we put a 1600 or so fat seat in the back and a 600-700 in the middle (right in front of the skylon. It throws a decent wake, it's no xstar or a tige wake (the other two boats Im used to riding behind) but it's pretty nice.

The Natique is cool because it sits pretty high in the water. You can put a lot of weight in the boat. I've ridden behind a couple of them and the wake was cool. Definitely rideable. Only downside is getting the weight stashed so its out of the way. I always thought the shape was good, personally my favorite of the "ski" boats for wakeboarding.

I have a 92 Ski Nautique Open Bow and it's what I would consider as marginal for wakeboarding. I would go for a MC 205 or Sport Nautique if I was in your position. However if it's a great deal then maybe that's not an option.

Get lots of weight because you will need it.

Thanks for the advice guys. Maybe I'll wait it out a little and see what comes up but there aren't a whole lot of quality, inexpensive (probably a conflict right there) boats in Seatown at the moment.

I'd really like to find a sport/super sport nautique, MC 205, or MB 210 for around 20. Does anybody got a line on one of those? I'd be willing to do some driving to find it. Another sweet boat would be a 92-93 Barefoot or Excel Nautique with the V-drive.

I have a '94 SNOB. I'll try to remember to take pics of the wake and weight setup this weekend.

That is the same hull as my 1995 SN. Not a bad crossover boat. I run a 550# sack under the bow, another 550 behind the motorbox and 2-3 100# sandbags on the platform. The capacity plate says 1100#s so I am already over. The bad thing is that it takes water over the front and back very easily. I might not agree with the other posters claiming that it has high sides and handles weight well. Also the 1994 fuel injection motor had lots of troubles, hopefully it has a carb or it was a late model year with the GT-40. You will probably be happier with one of the boats in your second post. I will probably upgrade next year before I sink mine from too much weight/swamping.

I learned 4 inverts and a handful of spins behind a 96 with a ton of weight. Still ranks up there with the best wakes I've ridden. Great boat for sure.
