I think wakeskating will get bigger in the overall amout of people doing it. There will definately be more people wakeskating because it is affordable and can be awesome even behind jet ski wakes...But, i think wakeboarding will be more popular with the majority because "the trick are cooler and bigger in the air" (such as 900's and double flips). But otherwise I think more people will be doing wakeskating which will make the sport progress really quick. Thats why we have awesome wakeskaters like danny hampson at 16, because not everyone can afford a v-drive wakeboard boat.

i completely agree with you leo. some people in the above link seem to think that wakeskating is a limited sport and will never get big. i still remember back in 97 when i first saw a video of wakeboarding, people were saying "yeah its cool but no one will ever get into it." look where we are today... i think wakeskating could possibly surpass wakeboarding just for the mere fact that it is SO much cheaper. What i would realy like to see as riders progress are some big air tricks on a wakeskate, i know this is limited but if tony hawk can do a 900 off a halfpipe, we should someday do a 900 off a massive wake.

the 900 would be bad ass but the only limiting factor is the rope and thats what keeps wakeskating from being like skateboarding, and the fact that we are going two directions (forward from the pull and up and over because of the wake) instead of one where we have to deal with the whole wind issue bc when youre riding at 20 mph youll always have wind

I’ve tried a kick flip with no luck. I was talking with my brother, who rides skateboards and he told me to kick it back down, more like a fake. He showed me on his skateboard and it looked cool, but I’ve never seen anyone try it on a wakeskate. Basically you do a kick flip and on the rotation of the board you kick it back the other way back down to the water.

Anyone ever seen this before on a wakeskate?

Basically the board spins 360*deg on a kick flip. On this trick the board will get either 90*deg or 270*deg and you kick it back the other way with your toe. The board would spin one way then you kick it back the other way before you land. I will talk with my brother again and try to get the name of the skateboard move.

Do you mean a kickflip-underflip?

Went out this weekend and had my brother (the skateboarder) with me and he was able to tell me more. It is a kick-flip underflip, but I’m not sure how it would work on water. I would really like to see a pro rider who can get some good air on an ollie try or even Reed wake-2-wake. That would be trick!!!
