I say "tie-guh" as well, but there is an accent mark over the E, isn't there? How does that affect pronunciacion? Looks French to me.

The dude at the Tige dealer (and they know everything) says Tie-guh Something about the original name of the company being Tiga but having to change because that name was already taken by the sailboat company

I only have one Tige and have spoken with the head man in charge of the company. It is pronounced TIE-GUH as many have already said.

Maybe this should be in the Wakeboard discussion and not Boats, but how do pronounce raley?
I've heard it Ray-Lee, Rail-Lee, and Rally (like Sally).
To keep it related, I did know how to pronounce Tige and it was painful hearing others mis-pronounce it...

How about Calabria, I was at a boat dealership that just started carrying them and the salesman butchered their name. I felt a little weird correcting him, but he should know how to say it. I would write out how to say it but i'm not good at the whole writing like it sounds thing.

I always thought raley was pronounced 'sue-per-man'

I have always said Rally like Sally...like a car rally or bike rally, but have heard the others too.

Its Ti-Guh. The story I heard was because the founders young son pronounced his nickname 'Tiger' as 'Tiguh'.

Wouldn't it suck to own a boat with a name that most people can't pronounce?

FAQ's About Tigé

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. How do you pronounce Tigé?

“Tye-guh”

2. Where is Tigé located?

Abilene, Texas, USA

3. How do I contact Tigé?

You can call Tigé at (325) 676-7777 or e-mail at info@tige.com.

4. How do I purchase Tigé merchandise?

You can either check out Tigé’s apparell section on their website or contact Melinda Blay at (325) 676-7777.

5. What type of oil does my Tigé use?

That depends on where you live, most individuals prefer a 5/10w 30 or a 5/10w 40. We would recommend using a good brand of oil. Remember to change you oil filter and water separator regularly.

6. How do I find out how much a used Tigé is worth?

Visit http://www.nadaguides.com/ for the N.A.D.A. Marine Appraisal Guide. It is updated three times a year and includes information on boat values such as used trade-in, average retail and high retail.

7. Where can I sell my used Tigé?

You can find a Tigé dealer at www.tige.com, by phone (325) 676-7777 or e-mail at info@tige.com.

9. What is the origin of the name “Tigé”?

During the early 1990s Tigé looked to differentiate itself by creating a one-of-a-kind name that embodied quality, performance and uniqueness – qualities inherent to the Tigé product. The decision was made to base the name on the word Tiger, the childhood nickname of the company’s founder, Charlie Pigeon. By dropping the “r” and adding an accent over the “é”, the name originated with a European flair that complimented the flowing, euro-design of the company’s first boat models and further differentiated the brand from the competition.

10. When and where was Tigé founded?

Tigé was founded in 1991 in Merced, Calif. In 1995, the company moved its headquarters and manufacturing facility to Abilene, Texas, where it is currently located.

It looks like Raley is pronounced "Railee" from what I've found so far. It sounds kind of queer that way though...

david is correct with the background of the name. you must either be a tige dealer or have been thru a plant tour. a lot of people don't know that.
