I am looking for some sound while riding. I do not want to dump a lot of money into this but would like to be able to hear the music. Has anyone used the Monster Tower speakers (2 singles) with an 250 watt amp? I ride 60 feet behind the boat, would this allow me to hear the music?

more speakers and more power. do a search on here for "pro audio".

"I do not want to dump a lot of money into this but would like to be able to hear the music"

This statement is an oxymoron

Mabye some may not believe it but....... I put the Bazooka 8" tubbies and im running 100 watts rms to each one. You can her them when riding, not loud or anything but you CAN here them pretty good. Id like to get two more and run the amp down to 2 ohms. Heres a pic

When I see this Q the first thing I do is click on the poster's profile and look at his boat:

2004 Glastron GX205

He also says he rides at 60' not 75'+, sound falls off with distance.

Given his boat and his riding position, I would say he will be able to hear the Monster Tower speakers while riding, without breaking the bank.

Want sound while riding for cheap???

Throw a boom box into a tube, pull it 55 feet behind the boat!

Well,

If you are looking at 6.5" cans from $200.00-$400.00, I can't touch that. Now, if you are looking at anything from $600.00-$800.00 range, I have something for you that 6.5's can't touch.Upload

Doug,

Your fizhnoyz site has those listed at $1200(assuming they are the tiger shark)? Where does $600-800 come from?

Always good to see another player in the market. At some point I am going to have to get something besides boards and a bimini on my tower.....

Duece,

Right now I am selling three that I have on the shelf(all black)on ebay for 799.99(849.99 buy it now). Everyone here (ATL)want custom paint, not just a solid black. To move these I am willing to deal. Not only that, I am changing the site to a lower price get more competitive.

yeah, if I was rolling a nice boat, I would man up for some nice speakers. I am just trying to cut corners but maybe that is not a realistic approach.

Todd,

I normally try to stay away from posting a “sales” post about our products but in this instance, I feel obligated to make sure you have the right options and the right information. I think what you will find is there is a large difference in "hearing" the music and "experiencing" the music. If you search on this site, you will find a lot of info on “pro audio” tower speakers. Referring to speakers that use a HLCD. That is a good place to start. However, all HLCD drivers are not the same, all mid bass drivers are not the same, Crossover design is one of the most important aspects when using HLCD, weight, materials etc....the list could go on. I would strongly recommend listening to what you would like to buy first and comparing. If this is not possible, send a PM to some of the guys on this board that have heard a lot of the different ones including ours, Wet Sounds.http://www.wetsounds.comTake a look at our PRO 80. $849 a pair.

Okay, I'll go there.

Let's do it this way, say you want to build it yourself, that's cool and there is nothing wrong in the least with that, compile a parts list shall we?
1___ MDF/PLYWOOD(whatever wood) $13.00
2___ Bondo $20.00
3___ Polyester resin $25.00
4___ fiberglass $10.00
5___ Polyester cloth(fleece) $10.00
6___ Stainless fasteners $12.00
7___ Crossovers(or components) $40.00
8___ Wire..good wire $18.00
9___ Neutrik connectors $10.00
10___ 8" mids $180.00
11___ 1" compression drivers $75.00
12___ Horn flares $10.00
13___ Clamps $90.00
14___ Grilles $25.00
_________
GRAND TOTAL $538.00

I left out things like, nails, glues, paint, sealers, and labor for anything. If I missed something let me know. Now, @ $799.99 that leaves a whopping $261.99. If I were to use all of these ingredients, which I dont because they aren't one of a kind( they're vacuum infused). What is your time worth, and add those figures. Some are the fabricating types and love building the one of a kind enclosures...and I applaud them!! I am one too. But some don't have the time or skills, or energy. Sound is subjective and if we all used the same speakers what choice is there?

Sorry this was so long, but lets look at reality.Upload
