Zack

The premier is a wider board than the motive which is a little better for 200 plus pound riders. There is also a 147 era out there built for the bigger riders. That being said the motive is still a solid choice. I would say its between those three.

I have a 2004 basically new, O'brien Player 143 that would be great. I got my dad on one and he loves it. I would be willing to sell it super cheap. I only rode it maybe 4 sessions total. Email me if you are interested. asnintzel@yahoo.com

I'm good size and have ridden both the Motive and the Premier. I would recommend the former for your Dad as it tracks much better and is more forgiving for a beginer/intermediate rider.

The Motive is sick, I used to ride that thing when it was the Murray. I would also check out the CWB Tattoo, it has deep molded fins & tracks incredibly well. Good luck, word to your...father?

my dad decided to try wakeboarding after watching me for about 20 minutes so i got a brand new substance with brand new alphas and gave him my LF DLX 147 with Byerly bindings

I had a DLX (and still have it). this board has no grip.
He will have a bit of difficulty control this board. but if he can, he will very good!

Murray/temet is my board and I feel it is a very easy board. I pass my Temet and people found this board a lot more easier that my DLX.

I would say get him something decent made after 2000 or so and some good bindings. I'm old and I have a 2000 Belmont that is continuous rocker and 140cm, it is pretty stable until you try to cut really hard. I'd recommend spending more on the bindings, Hyperlite Splits are like Belmonts for half the price. He doesn't need reconstructive knee surgery at his age, the bindings are more important.

Zack: If Money is an issue, I have purchased three (new) boards of e-bay. They were just Last years model. All three times I have gotten them for half the cost of a new one.

I second the Tattoo with Torq's suggestion. Comes in a 143.
