Most HO alternators I see for sale are one wire units. My current alternator has 3 wires. Whats the deal? Can I change from 3 wires to 1? Does it have something to do with the regulator? Any help or insight would be great.

I've put an email into balmar and DBelectrical and heard nothing back so I guess I'll have to find the time to call them.

How come you dont just use an higher amp Leece Neville?
most are 2 wire hook ups, but if you have a three wire hook up dont use the indicator wire, there is all types of higher amp alternators from Leece Neville:

If need to just give us a call m - f 8:30 to 5: pst

Try to get the unit number off your alternator....
