05 Supra Launch 21V, I have an oil leak where the drive shaft is connected to the v-drive. I was quoted $1500 - $2500 (lifting the engine, bringing the v-drive on the table, re-aligning the engine, lake test etc) depending on whether the shop can fix the v-drive unit (some rubber seal inside) or ship the unit to Walter.
Does anyone know a shop or a boat mechanic in the Seattle area that could work on this? PM me please.
Thank you

They should not be lifting the engine to take the v-drive out. Have you checked to see if the v-drive oil sending unit is leaking? I have worked around Supras for a long time and never seen one leak around the drive shaft. I would get a second opinion.

it has a shaft seal.To remove the drive they will need to unbolt the v drive mounts raise the engine place blocks under the trany then unbolt the v drive from the trany and remove.once v drive is reinstalled they will have to align the engine to the shaft and test the quote you were given is not a bad price there is a lot of labor involved.

I am sure the leak is from the shaft seal. I wonder if this was caused by me damaging the prop last year.
Thank you

I went through this about a year 1/2 ago on my 05 22ssv. The v-drive pan would always get oil on the bottom. Just enough to cover your finger tip. It was the shaft seal on mine to. They replaced the whole v-drive under warranty. When they put the new one in it too had a leak but this time it was from one of the magnetic plugs on the v-drive. I pulled the plug and re sealed it. No more leaks.
