I've never been to Bass lake but it looks like a great location. Can anyone tell me more about the lake and the hotel. How are the general riding conditions ?

I used to go to Bass Lake when I was in HS. I just remember it being really windy. lots of tubers. of course, this was in the middle of summer, not spring time.

We entered an agreement with Bass Lake / Pines Resort about a hour ago.

Like Tulloch, this lake can get rough during peak of summer I've heard. Although, we visited this location during the summer and it didn't look bad. Maybe just lucky timing. I observed decent water as I was eating one of the best Eggs Benedicts of my life overlooking the lake.

Double the number of rooms, double the number of restaurants, double the parking lot space, double the number of boat slips, double the number of bars, double the quality of the food, service, and the rooms. This place is perfect for us.

It's also MUCH closer to SoCal! When we first took over the Spring Ride, I recal some gripes that we were taking the event to far north and excluding the Socal Riders. We didn;t have mny options at that point. I hope to see more of you at the even this time around. We really think this local is perfect.

The plan is to add a rail jam this year.

May 8th and 9th.

Rooms are about the same price, maybe $20 more a night.

J-Rod,

I have heard that lake has 5 mph rule until 8AM...will they suspend that rule for that weekend so we can get an early AM set?

will the event be in front of the hotel like it was at tulloch or elsewhere?
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       11-18-2008, 12:48 PM Reply
We're working on special exceptions. It's possible that this rule can be lifted. Not sure yet.

The venue is very similar, Callen. You can hang out on the docks, in the restarant, the bar, poolside, the outdoor sundeck, or several other areas to watch the riders throw down. Everything is water front.

The biggest difference is the quality of this place. The staff is professional and polite. Food is great, evverything is clean and top notch. This is a real resort.

Thanks but no thanks. We will pass on Bass lake. To many very stuffy old people that complain and sheriffs have a tower on the lake where they love to write tickets. My company has done a lot of work on the houses up there and have heard all the people talk about how they call the sheriff every chance they get because of the kids and there loud stereos drinking and partying. Good luck getting the rule lifted. this is a toilet bowl at 8 AM as soon as the clock strikes 8 everyone is sitting in waiting. The restaurant is a great place to eat and the resort is nice but I am afraid it is not ready for a Spring Ride.

The place looks great for a romantic getaway. Pretty upscale compared to Tulloch but maybe that's what you're aiming for.
Regardless, I'd like to take a trip up this winter and see what it's all about.

One of our friends who rides with us almost every day has a house up there on the lake and we still wont ride that lake. If you can honestly say it wasnt bad in the summer you must have been really intoxicated at the time.

Ben, not quite the level of support we were hoping for from you.

This is off season.

We have approval from PG&E and the Sherrifs.

Don't break the law, and you won't get a ticket.

This is centered around a Doubleup contest, that's really all we need. I watched your son win $3000 2 years ago in some of the roughest water I have ever seen. I hope you will change your mind.

Tulloch is a horrble place to ride too, but it works for this off season event. Hopefully this will too.

So where's the best place to fly into for this event?

Is there camping available for those that don't want to get raped on hotel rates?

Will there be an abundance of ladies for a Canadian to hit on?

Isnt it funny. No matter what place you pic nothing is every good enough? Yea bass lake gets beat up in the summer but what poplar lake that can support a event like this dosent. Even If you had it @ a private ski lake completley surround from the wind by tree's someone would complain how the lake wasnt deep enough and the wake was no good, Bla, Bla, This lake sucks that location is bad this place is blown out, to many tube's here, tone's of jet ski'rs there. It's supper hard to put somthing on. People want a nice location that everyone can get to that can support the event but you want this magical oasis to somehow be un inhabbited?????? Sorry not gonna happen. Mabey the people un happy with spring ride should try driving out to Brostock.
Hats off to you guys for putting the events together. The spring ride is a great time to party and hang out and hook up with people you dont see all year. So what if its a bit crowed or blown out. There is always next weekend.

I support CIE and all the great things they do for wakeboarding. Don't care about water conditions they will be fine. The resort is very nice. The lake is plenty deep and not worried about being blown out. Just know a lot of the people and what they feel is their own slice of paradise and they really don't want a lot of partying to go on. I just want everyone to understand the event will be great all the boys at CIE will make sure of that. Just understand the people who live up there live there for a reason. Peace and solitude.

Jason - Per their website.. up to 2 dogs per room with a $75 fee.

I hope that is accurate - we definitely can't leave our dogs behind for a weekend.

The good thing about Bass lake is you can hit "bass lake-ups" by driving a strait line. You may even get a "triple or Quadrulpule bass lake-up"!!! The only time to ride this lake is at 7 in the morning and the reason why is because the lake is closed. My family has a house on the lake and we dont even launch our boat there.....

Hey J-rod. I have heard from friends that have gone to Bass lake that if your boat is new on the lake you need to take it to the ranger station for a $20
inspection. After your boat is checked out you can use the lake. Do you know if the Lake Po Po will be out this time of year? will you need to have they Bass Lake shake down?

Be sure to mention CIE Spring Ride when you call.

Boat Owners / Grant, They enforce an annual boating permit, but not for this weekend. I think it actually costs more than $20. I have been assured that we are missing this by a couple of weeks. You'll have to pay a launch fee. If you want to keep your boat in a slip, you will have top rent a slip. I think they're $20 per day, but, it's your slip. You won't return to find someone else in it.

There's gas, boat repair, patio boats and 08 Wakesetters for rent. There's a general store, and a proshop that sells boat supplies and parts.

i was reading all the post to see what everyone thought about it but got tired of it half way threw. I'm the friends that Ben C is talking about that has a house on the lake. From my house in Fresno to my house at bass lake its a little under of 1 hour. i don't even go up there to ride in the summer. i will say that it shouldn't be that bad the dates that they picked. I don't know if the CIE guys relized that to have your boat on that lake for even one day you have to have your boat registration with bass lake for the year which is going to cost each boat about 70 bucks. one side of the lake which is 4 miles is surrounded by 1.5 to 6 million dollar cabins. every dock has a boat at it and probably 60% of the lake front cabins have a couple boats which can get up toward a couple hundred thousand dollars. many of those cabins are owned by rich snoby retired people that will call the cops on anyone that they want. I'm just saying that its not the best place for a whole lot of drunk people to be at that early in the season. but we'll just have to see how it goes. if any of you would like to rent small cabins i would check out Millers Landing or the Forks Marine. I'll be there at my cabin. If anyone has any questions on the lake or surrounded areas just ask me. i've been there since i was born.

oooooooooo yeah it'll be a one shot deal for sure. the people that live on the lake will offer up however much money they have to to not have something like that come back. it gets pretty crazy up there on the 4th of july and they all hate it up there for those couple of days people have off. the best part about it is that i'll get to hear all the complaining from my customers. it should be fun hahaha.

Rooms are about the same price, maybe $20 more a night.

I don't know about that, though I might be off base on the Tulloch pricing since I've refused to pay for a room at that dump the last few years.

Our 2 queen partial lakeview chalet (4 adults) is $220/night. I'm pretty sure that we are at the low end of the price range with that res so expect the suites to be a bit more. The breakdown was in-season pricing, no group discount, and $20 per adult per night after 2.

An important note for the pet people. The number of pet-friendly rooms is limited. If you're planning to take pets, make your reservations now and be sure to tell them you need a pet-friendly room.

I'm not gonna cheap out on a Spring Ride, but I feel like I was just raped.

there are 75+ rooms in the $159 / $179 per night range.

The more expensive rooms are 209 nd 229 per night.

Not trying to fight about it J-Rod, but that's not consistent with the pricing I was quoted. I was told that the more expensive rooms were actually in the 270 or 280 range. Maybe there is a misunderstanding on pricing (could easily be on my part)?

Nate,

I just called. I asked for a room with 2 queen beds for Spring Ride weekend. I was quote 159.00 per night.

If you go Lake View, the cost will go up. If you tell them you have more than 2 per room, the cost will also go up.

Looking forward to seeing you there buddy!

OH Yeah My Standard Practice is to always say there are just 2 People staying in the room. Hotels always jack up the prices when you add additional guests.

If anybody is flying in to fresno to ride and they need to get to the event EMAIL me and I will see if I can get that taken care of for you. This Event will be fantastic.

I think that Bass Lake will survive and the event will be a huge success.

Like J-Rod said earlier "Don't break the law, and you won't get a ticket." Also with the Fee not being enforced that means you wont have to get your boat inspected by the Sheriff. That probably means they wont be in the tower either. All things are pointing to a great Spring Ride.

The best thing we can do is fill the hotel with Spring Ride and we wont have to worry about complaining.

Yeah...I guess I should have cheated and never said 4 adults, but it was a loaded question when I'm asking for the '2 queen bed' option. I don't like breaking hotel rules because they have you by the balls once they have you're CC#. Coincidentally, I learned this lesson at Tulloch.

May seems like forever from now.
